’BECOME YOUR BROTHERS KEEPER’ Part 2
September 21, 2020
‘LIFE THAT IS FOUND IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST’ Part 1
September 24, 2020Peter never had a spiritual relationship with the disciples, hence they habitually followed him everywhere he went but this was not a spiritual relationship. The disciples had no fellowship with Christ because if they did they would have waited on the cross rather than follow Peter back into fishing. Hence after the resurrection, Jesus Christ appeared to Peter and instructed him to go and call the disciples.
Peter was not supposed to go back to fishing, to begin with as he knows God and he is the one who revealed that Jesus is the Christ. It was bound to happen for the disciples to follow Peter after the crucifixion as Peter was their rock and foundation of their salvation.
Every time Jesus addressed a sensitive situation he went to Peter. Jesus said ”Peter I am changing your name, you will no longer be called Simon” Peter is a fisherman and Jesus said to him you will no longer be fishers of fish but a fisher of men. Therefore meaning Peter has the power of influence already, he was entrusted with the church.
Often people listen to you not because you are powerful but because you have been entrusted with those people. Yes, Thomas is blamed for his disbelief but the greatest person who did not believe it was Peter. When Christ resurrected Peter did not even go, he waited for the master to appear to him for him to believe. The minute the one who is entrusted with keeping falls it is hard for them to come back. Because now the one whom you kept should now be the one to keep you.
We are dealing with the process of God in teaching us because when God must teach a new generation He must start afresh as there is no old believer with the Word which was taught from the beginning. There is no growth like the one who has long been there cannot teach the new ones. The father cannot rob us, but we robbed our fellow brothers who are receiving the teaching for the first time. Those who long received the teaching are the ones responsible for teaching the new.
Those who started with Yeshua ministries and not replicating the Word was preached before, they are robbing us of the Word.
It is believed that the old man is still active, meaning for those who were there from the beginning the Word is not embedded in them. They have not become the Word, the only way to carry the Word is to become. Romans 12 Instructs us to renew our minds, this scripture is addressing believers. Therefore meaning many are still holding on to the old man, hence he is constantly suffixing. The cause of delay in the Church is the fellow brothers who have been with the Church from the beginning but yet refuse to become the Word.
Bear in mind that we are not conductors, therefore you cannot correct what you are not living. There are such brothers good in speech and quoting what the father has said, yet the Word they speak is not in them, they haven’t become. They are quick in speaking, similar to the Pharisees were doing, they were full of information that could not assist them. Do not teach what you cannot become. That is why Jesus fulfilled the law, it was merely to show us that it is possible. However, He came with something greater than the law.
You cannot introduce a new equation if you never solved the old one. With that said as a brother, you can never introduce a new teaching if you have not yet mastered the teaching you received. Hypocrisy is teaching what you are not, what you are not one with.
(Matthew 15:1- 20) Jesus came with wisdom, He did not come with a foreign message. Therefore the one who corrects should quote what the father taught. Among the disciples there was no one who was taught like Peter, he had the Word.
(Matthew 16:13- 17) Who replied? Peter answered You are the Christ, Son of the living God. Peter knew the truth, he had answers and was the one to always ask questions, he had the boldness. Be careful that in your respective department/position that you do not become like Peter. You need to be careful about how you respond and how you live your life. It is both ways those who look up to Peter have a duty and Peter has a duty as well. Therefore those who look up to Peter must use discernment, they should be able to see when he has lost the voice because he also has his own weakness.
Now addressing the one who is being kept and receiving the message, you are not entirely innocent because you have to take charge over your ground and you are responsible for it, therefore do not gamble with it. Do not just be a ground that takes in every seed and not allowing the ground to regain minerals. You are not preserving the ground for the good, the time a good seed comes you won’t have minerals.
When Jesus rebuked Peter and said “Behind me satan” we should note something out of the rebuke Peter was able to repent. As a person who is being kept, be careful not to reject the one who keeps you forever. Those who might have left the house and came back means they have repented and the father has accepted and redeemed them. Therefore those in the house should look at those redeemed beyond their mistakes and discern their hearts.
Peter was loved by Jesus because of his repented heart, Jesus was able to correct Peter. We tend to reject brothers who left the house, thinking they have fallen forever. The father has prayed for them, Jesus said to Peter “The devil has asked for you, but I’ve prayed for you.” There are other brothers whom the devil has asked for and the father has prayed for them, when they return be careful not to reject them.
(John 15:1- 12) You are clean because of the Word which has been spoken to you. Abide in Him and He abides in you. When you are kept the Father is Glorified, if you keep His commandments you will abide in His love. Jesus kept His Father’s commandments and He has remained in His love.
You must lay your life for your fellow brother, meaning the day you fall spiritually you have not laid down your life. Often times as a brother you grow spiritually and God promotes you, that your fall is also a fall of many.
Hence this had to be corrected when they found Jesus with the Samaritan woman, the disciples could have gone and looked for girlfriends. Because they looked up to Jesus and He was found with the Samaritan woman. With that said it might not be wrong for you to sit around with a glass of wine, but if it makes others fall you must refrain from doing such. You are not your brother’s keeper if your deeds make them fall. Therefore keeping goes beyond speaking and quoting, it goes to the way you live and respond. Peter and Cain, where is your brother? What killed your brother spiritually is not because of what you said but how you lived.
Now directed to the one who’s being kept, cursed is a man who puts his trust in a man. When you look up to a person, do not put your faith in a person. If truly there is a person you must trust in, let it be in the shepherd that God has given you because he will account for your soul.
One thing you should follow or imitate from your fellow brother is how they live the Word. The command is clear reading the book of (John 15:15 ) You are My friend when you keep My commands. Therefore you cannot be in fellowship with Him when you do not keep His commands. Look up to a person’s deeds rather than His words, if His deeds are aligned to the Word. Deeds should never be separated from the Word, especially those who are entrusted with keeping.
Not everyone is graced with the ability to discern, hence one must portray the Word and their ways of living should be discernment enough for those who cannot discern. The level of your application of the Word is very important because everything is centered around the Word. As you are entrusted with keeping, although you might fall then your fellow brothers know where to stand as you led them not to yourself but to the Word. If your focus is on a mere man if he falls you will fall too.
We are kept by the Word and what God is requiring from us. Never shy away from the truth, do not compromise the truth for the sake of keeping your brother, it is not keeping if there is no truth. The Gospel of Jesus Christ does need a lie to defend it. Therefore if there comes a time where you must lie to keep your fellow brother then check your relationship with them it is no longer spiritual.
If you are in a relationship with a brother which requires you to lie to keep the relationship, you must leave that relationship. The Bible says when God came to Cain and asked him of his brother’s whereabouts, bare in mind that a lie is not saying “I do not know” but you avoiding the question is still a lie. However, Cain replied “am I my brother’s keeper?” Some of our response is what prevents us from being kept. This is an attitude of a rebellious son, and such a person cannot be kept.
(Matthew 18:15-17) Between you and your brother alone, if he hears you then you have gained your brother. However if he chooses to rebel, then you take along another brother to speak to the one who rebels. But now we no longer taking along another brother but we go to the father. But moreover, if he refuses to hear, then tell it to the entire church. Thereafter if he refuses to hear the church, let him be to us as like an unbeliever.
He is still in the Kingdom but treats him like an unbeliever because he could not hear his brother, father, and the church. What will keep such a person, because we first began with the Word and yet he could not still listen to the rebukes? Never find yourself trying to bring back people who should be treated like unbelievers, they end up opening your eyes to the things which you were not aware of. Therefore be careful of such people because they will quote scriptures to challenge your belief.
Such a person can try to win you over to where he is. Be careful of a person who has rejected corrections from the brother, the church, and the father. Whatever you have forbidden on earth will be forbidden in heaven. The scripture of when the two of you agree does not apply, because when one fails to listen to their brother there is no longer two. Therefore by not listening to your brother’s rebuke, it means you are saying you are able to stand alone and your voice cannot have authority on earth.
(Matthew 18:18-20) Jesus is addressing the one who has been entrusted with keeping. If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything that you may ask it will be done by the Father on heaven. Therefore do not think you can stand alone by rejecting the truth which comes from your brother, because in you rejecting him you are rejecting everything that has to do with the Father and His message.
I am in their midst, God is emphasizing unity. Unity is also seen when one accepts correction from their fellow brother, this is fellowship. This is true fellowship not interrupted by emotions and feelings because you are ought to be corrected in what you deem is right while it is not right.
