[1 Corinthians 12:1-31]
Concerning Spiritual gifts one should not be ignorant, no one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. The manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one and for the profit of all. The main purpose of a gift is not to profit self but others, although a gift is given, it is the Spirit that manifests it. Hence whenever one manifests the gift with their own strength, such a person gets tired however when it is by the aid of the Holy Spirit, it is not by might or power.
The Holy Spirit should be the one operating the gift, if a gift only profits self then it is not God operating it. Many stop serving because the motive was to please themselves and not for the Kingdom’s sake. Everything in our lives is meant to be tested. Similar to Jesus, He had to be crucified first. A Christian is ought to be tested, even your gift will be tested.
A gift will allow you to seat around greatness because it is meant to profit all. Understanding can be a gift, hence for some, it is very easy to understand scriptures. Therefore when a gift benefits only you, such a gift is inactive, a gift can either open or close doors for you. A gift is able to close doors because it wants attention, it wants to be operated. (Verse 7) Manifestation of the Spirit is given for the benefit of all. Spiritual gifts are given without repentance and must be used in the house of God.
The Church should be equipped because many are gifted, a seer does not need to be a Pastor to see, and similarly to a Prophet, they do not need to have a Church to operate. The administration of the gift is very important without causing any disorder in the body of Christ. Gifts are not given to the matured as they are given to everyone, hence it has to be guided and that’s the reason why we have Spiritual fathers.
Many have concluded that they know too much when it comes to gifts and that is where they miss it. Believers need to operate in their gifts and we ought to allow the Spirit to operate the gift for us. Previously people were led by idols on how to operate their gifts. No one speaking of the Spirit of God can curse Jesus. Hence our gift cannot operate against God, due to the Spirit we carry.
(Verse 5) There is diversity of gifts but there is one Spirit. We ought to allow the Holy Spirit to operate our gift. In this regard as we pay attention to the gift which God has given us, we must also acknowledge those who have authority over us and allow them to guide us in our gift. It is good to seek counsel until you are released to walk alone. Operating in a gift does not make one less Spiritual but it depends on who is operating the gift, either the flesh or the Holy Spirit. There was a wave of revelations that kicked out things that mattered in the body of Christ, when people were urged to move according to the Holy Spirit, gifts were neglected.
[2 Timothy 2:19-26]
The Lord knows those who are His, let everyone who carries the name of Christ depart from inequities/sin. Anyone who departs from sin, such a person becomes a vessel of honor. Everyone is gifted but what separates us or distinguishes us, is how we live. Hence one cannot prophesy while sleeping around or indulging in sin. A gift is given without repentance, thus the world also possesses gifts.
One does not cease being a vessel or a cup, but it is either you are a vessel of honor or dishonor. You can be a cup that is not filled by the Holy Spirit but yet become filled. Manifestation is not existence, but it is merely proof. One can have the Spirit without manifestation but it does not mean there is a lack of the Spirit. Similarly, one can be prayed for and no demons manifest but yet they are possessed by demons.
Many tend to perfect their serving and not how they live or carry themselves out. It is evident enough that people love God but we do not know if God can hear a wicked person or a person living a sinful life, such a person should not waste their time praying because God cannot hear them. A barrier between God and such a person is sin, for God does not hear the prayers of a sinful person. God does not forgive the same sin over and over again.
An unbeliever is often regarded as better than a backsliding Christian, it is better for one not to know the truth than knowing the truth and yet not live according to the truth. There are people who are gifted and yet operating without the aid of the Holy Spirit and discernment, you can be fooled. There is a gift of discernment however the greatest discernment is being in the presence of God. With that said never allow anyone to practice/exercise their gifts with you.
[Titus 2:6-12]
Showing yourself to being an example of good works, encourage the young man to have self-control. In your teaching show integrity, in your gift, there should be integrity. In serving God there should be self-control and how you live matters. Your gift must match your character, your gift can take you places and even open doors for you. However if your gift lacks good character, then it does not glorify God.
[Romans 12:1-7]
Do not conform, that you may prove what is good. (Verse 4) Although we have many members, they do not have the same function. God wants us to present our bodies and not our gifts, Holy and acceptable. God instructs us to be Holy as He is, even though we have different gifts and functions the Holiness should be the same. It is an error to find that in this church homosexuality is allowed and in the other church it is not allowed, other churches preach against drinking alcohol and some do not.
Although churches might preach different doctrines but when it comes to the standard of living it needs to be one and that is the way God has instructed us. Holiness is not according to our understanding. Often gifts are associated with sinful behaviors, the gift is not the one dirty but how one lives. Restoration and resurrection does not take place in the world, He restores His own and in His house. Do not leave the Presence of God, do not leave the church rather suffer at the feet of God. Do not be deceived and leave the Presence of God.
[1 Peter 4:7]
The end of all things is at hand, therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. Love covers a multitude of sins, it is impossible for love to cover you while you are out of it. Allow yourself to be reunited, corrected, and aligned in the house of God because there is no restoration in the world. In the corporate world and our respective careers and positions, we should remain faithful to God, do not allow the gift to take us out of the Presence of God, and yet again do not be ignorant of the gift.
