‘FELLOWSHIP A PLACE OF STRENGTH

It is paramount for every Christian to know that fellowship is essential and it is your place of strength. You can never be a believer and not fellowship. You need to ensure that you fellowship at all times. Christianity is all about fellowshipping, the minute you do not fellowship you are not a Christian. What is in you and other Christians needs to come together so that you may be strengthened. I always say fellowship is like you entering into a filling station. Fellowship is where we are strengthened, changed and where we grow. No one can survive on his own, it is essential to fellowship continuously at all times.

[Psalm 133:1-3]

It is not only a matter of you being together but you need to be in unity. It needs to be one Spirit, one Father, and one heart. Nowadays Christians have made the Word something that you need to attain from the Lord. Churches tend to be what believers teach them to be instead of being what they are. You find that the only thing that is being attended to is politics, problems, etc. The church is not all about administration. They tend to be busy and forget to be in unity. Unity is not when we come together to solve a problem. Unity is when we are in one Spirit and one mind. There can never be unity if we are not in the Word.

When they said now it is lockdown and churches are closing, many were complaining about how they were going to survive. Believe me when I tell you that most of the people who were in the church were never in the church because they never gathered in the name. They failed to be in the place where the mind and the Spirit are. Church closing is not when you fail to gather in one place, but when you become absent from the Word. Are you attentive to the Word? Are you sensitive to the Word and the move of God? Is it just another day where you just clap hands and dance?

We need to have the same Spirit. There can never be unity where there is a quarrelsome heart. (Verse 2), many times pastors go fasting so that there may be healing and that they may impart to the church. All these are under the anointing. Most of the time when there is no flow of signs and miracles it is because the church is not united. The Bible says when saints come together, it is not about how the pastor is anointed or about the encounters the pastor had. When Christians come together and become united God pours out the oil, it is all about unity.

When we have the same heart and mind, God becomes pleased and He releases the oil. Allow what needs to happen, to happen so that all righteousness may be fulfilled. The minute we have the mind that Jesus has we allow what needs to take place to take place. When we become absent in mind we do not allow the oil to flow. You might be listening to the Word but you are not one in Spirit. The Spirit couldn’t come as long as the disciples were in different places hence they had to gather in Jerusalem (one place). They were all waiting in their heart and mind, no one was thinking about their wives, fishing, or children. As they were waiting in one place there was an expectation hence God poured out the Spirit.

The church is missing out because it is so busy. When the cup is full it can never receive. When your mind and heart are in the right place God pours His oil out. (Verse 2) who is the head of the church? It is Christ, the church doesn’t have to receive according to the leader of the church, but according to Christ. The church needs to be in unity in mind and Spirit. There is no demon too big for the anointing of Christ. The Bible says “when saints come together in one place and fellowship nothing becomes impossible”. It becomes impossible when everyone comes and becomes his own. When the Bible says fellowship is when two walk together in agreement, it is not a matter of you walking together holding hands, but a matter of one mind and one Spirit.

When the oil flows it covers all ends. The church fails to receive this because it is not united. You can leave your troubles at home and come to church, when you get to the church you have another burden. One needs to forget about the burden. The church is full of people like Martha. Any church that is full of Martha can never succeed, and any church full of Mary can never survive because it needs both. You need to cook, pray, and still remain at the feet. One can be good at being Martha and forget to be Mary. None must die in you, because both are needed.

[Psalm 95:1]

It can never happen where you are, you can never sing or dance where you are but you need to leave where you are. You need to desert your mind and go where the Lord is. Praise and worship are at the altar, this is not before the veil but after the veil. Is your mind where the Lord is? The greatest battle you need to win is in your mind. You getting taxi fare and data for zoom that’s not the battle. Why did Jesus need to go to the mountain to pray? He could have muted everything to pray, all things are possible with Him because He is God, yet He still went to the mountain to pray.

God dealt with His flesh and switched it off yet you still tolerate other things thinking that you will make it in prayer and the Word. The Word tells us of how Jesus withdrew Himself. What was the reason for that? You expect to praise God while sitting down, don’t you know that when we stand up we are dealing with what hinders us from being in the presence of God? When we go to the presence we are in true fellowship. It is all about being out of our minds and being there. All the things He has mentioned are His, we want them but we do not want to worship Him. Matthew 7:7 doesn’t apply to those who do not worship God.

[Psalm 55:14]

When we gather what is it that we take from the Lord. When you go to church you will find what you want. You can come for fellowship and leave with quarrelsomeness because your heart was prepared for that. Prepare your heart to receive what is sweet. You will not receive love as long you do not expect it.

The fellowship will always be sweet at all times. You can receive sweet fellowship while others are not happy. Some people leave church disappointed. Where there’s worship there will be sweet fellowship. When you came to church you came like a baby but now you know too much. You came to church alone and received what was given in the pulpit. (Verse 14), you can lose the sweet fellowship you once had before. Do not allow the sweet fellowship to be past tense in your mind. The relationship can mess you up and disturb you. Go to church to fellowship.

[Acts 2:42]

When you devote yourself you commit, they decided to devote themselves to the teachings. It is not devotion if you read in passing. Lockdown has shown us that we do not have genuine Christians, many are fake. Why do we have prayers? It is part of being a believer. Why are we fellowshipping? The fellowship spoken about in Acts is not a church service.

In today’s times, it is called socializing. Most of them were in the Roman Empire, they fellowshipped with the teachings of the apostles, they fellowshipped with each other. It is important to eat together. The world knows fellowship more than us because every weekend they fellowship and break the bread together. You need to devote yourself at all times to prayer, breaking of bread, and fellowshipping.

[1 John 1:7]

This is another kind of fellowship, I spoke about one where we sit together and there is one where we walk in the light. The light is the very place it speaks about when it speaks of the name of Jesus.

Fellowship is continuous, not only when we have gathered here. Every decision you make determines whether you are fellowshipping or not. There is no way whereas a human being you do not fellowship with anything. It’s either you walk in the light or the darkness. It’s either you are of Jesus or the darkness. Jesus says I am the only way. Being in Satan doesn’t mean you like him. It’s very rare to hear someone saying he is a Satanist, but everyone claims to be Christians. The way you live your life is the one that determines where you fellowship.

Your decisions determine where you live. It’s easy to have a sticker on your car yet you fellowship with the darkness. If we walk in the light we fellowship with one another. Those who are spiritually sensitive can sense when someone is a stranger to the presence. I spoke about meditation, dancing together, and socializing which is fellowship. Now we are reading about how you live your life. Be found faithful at school or work, it takes a small thing for you to fellowship with darkness.

[Hebrews 13:15]

If we truly fellowship with one another no one among us will be in need. We can’t fellowship together while the other doesn’t have shoes. When we fellowship together we will be able to help each other. No one can suffer while we fellowship together. Where there is true fellowship there is no one rich or poor. Should your brother hunger while you are there? One can never be in need while we are there.

As a church, we shouldn’t neglect each other and one goes hungry while you are there. The church needs to be self-sufficient. The church will have the needy, yet those who are blessed must be able to provide help. There are some who will never have jobs, which means the church needs to provide and supply to them.

[Ephesians 5:17-19]

Fools will never know that they are fools. Usually, they think they are wise yet they are deceived. You must understand the Will of God. To be drunk with wine you are deceiving yourself. (Verse 18), never remain dry but always have the Spirit. Be filled, not that you should be in the Spirit. You must be filled so that praise may begin from the inside. Let thanksgiving and worship begin inside. When we come together we make a beautiful aroma to the Lord because it began inside. Inside of you is the headquarters, thus do not allow it to be filled with worry.

When you say thank you, it doesn’t mean you have received everything you need. Be thankful that you are alive with Christ. Have you appreciated God for who He is, not because of what He has done? You need to be in that mode at all times.

What keeps me when I have prayed and I have nothing is the thanksgiving I have. Know the Will of God which is to praise Him and be thankful to Him at all times. That’s how you need to be. Let’s continually fellowship in Spirit. Fellowship is important, you can never be a believer without such kind of fellowship.
