Master the little things: when much is given, much is required
May 29, 2019
God is taking us back to groaning, I did not understand why but now I get it. It is far deeper than what we think. And this is the highest prayer that most people neglect.
The Holy Spirit does not teach you to speak in tongues or words; He only teaches you how to groan. That is why God is so eager to teach us to pray in groanings. There is nothing wrong with praying in words, one can pray in words and utter the words “Father bless me, bless my family etc.” However, it is not the highest level of prayer and it does not have the assurance that your prayer will be answered, you also do not know if what you are praying is the will of God or your own desires – it is your supplications before the Lord.
The Bible says when you speak in tongues your Spirit is speaking mysteries to God, (that is why your mind does not understand), not that God speaks mysteries to you – when you pray in groaning, your Spirit cries as it searches the mind of God, so He is the one who is speaking mysteries to you. That is why you can never miss the will of God, everything that you pray will be what is in His mind because it is not a prayer of your Spirit (contaminated with fleshly desires).
Tongues might be a mystery because you do not understand what you are saying but they have utterance. You are uttering, thus it is a word but groaning is a sound that you make as you search the mind of God. Searching is looking or desiring.
You cannot search for what you do not want, therefore, the moment you are in groaning, it means you desire your master (Husband). Speaking the language of God. And as you do, your prayer could be ‘thank you Lord, or bless me Lord’, yet as you groan, the prayer is accompanied by a desire only for the master. When you pray in utterance, there is no desire that is stirred up in you to look for the master. So you end up loving the blessing more than the master.
Labour pains are not supposed to make you love the child but they are supposed to make you love your husband (See Genesis 3:16), “…to the woman he said…in pain you will give birth to children yet your desire will be for your husband.” That is why God wants us to pray in groanings to give birth to our miracle or breakthrough but yet we desire Him. Labour pains mean that you are about to give birth, so you could be giving birth to glory or to financial breakthrough, your car or some other blessing.
[Genesis 3:1-16], Eve was deceived because she wanted to be to be like God, not Adam, yet he was the very image of God. You cannot want to become like the one who is above your head or authority. For example, I am my wife’s authority, she submits to me but as she does, she must try to become just like me as I become like the master, that is why the Bible says, ‘wives, submit to your husbands as they submit unto the Lord’, as I submit to the Lord, she can submit to me so her submission to me is to the Lord.
[Genesis 3:5], “For God knows in the day you eat of it your eyes will be open and you will be like God.” So Eve was chasing to be like God, while completely overlooking Adam who also knew no good and evil because he was exactly as the Lord was. God gave Eve Adam who submits to Christ, so Eve’s master is Adam but she failed because she wanted to be like God other than the authority that God has given her. It is like what happened to the Israelites; God gave them Jesus to save them yet they still searched for Christ and completely ignored Jesus who was sent by God, and submitted to Christ.
The disciples kept asking Jesus to show them the Father, but Jesus told them that if you have seen Him, they have seen the Father. We learn from both instances that we must acknowledge what God has given, then we will get the one who He has sent. If your husband is sent by the Lord like Adam, when Eve becomes like him she can never miss the Lord because God manifests in Adam.
Verse (16), “I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth…” meaning that the pains and grief of child bearing were there all along but they were not as severe. “…yet your desire and craving will be for your husband.” The pains will increase more desire for the husband, they will not make you love the child. Prophetically speaking, the child in question is a miracle, when you pray with groanings there is a door that is bound to be open; you will give birth to your miracle but as your give birth to it you do not fall in love with your miracle.
The answer from this kind of prayer does not make you fall. Many people have prayed to the Lord like children and were answered with what killed them because they were not ready.
This goes back to [Galatians 4:1], while you are still a child you cannot be trusted with all because your desire is still the world (you are still under the bondage of the elements of the world) but when you are in groanings you are under the influence of the husband, He is your only desire. That is why [Genesis 3:16], says “your desire will be for your husband and he shall rule you.” Therefore, you are not ruled by the world or your blessing.
How many people lost the love for God while praying for what they need? They chased after money and left God; they were in prayer but they were praying like children so because of that they were under trustees and guardians. Guardians and trustees can answer you, they give as you request, but it is not according to how the Father would give you (the Father will not give you what will kill you).
The only way God can give us everything is when we desire Him, but if you still have the love of the world He cannot trust you with everything. So groaning take away the love of the world. That is why as a Father, I am authorized from above to take away your speech and leave you with groanings only because the moment you open your mouth you gossip and complain or speak things which are not of God. When you prayer is rendered in groanings your mind is able to change because your desire is changing, you desire the Lord more and more.
[Exodus 2:23], “Then the children of Israel groaned because of the bondage.” They were in groanings because of the bondage and God spoke to Moses saying that the generation will be in slavery for 400 years, but after that, it will be free. But it seemed like the Lord had forgotten His covenant, so as they groaned the Lord remembered His covenant. The answers to the prayer of the Israelites is Moses fighting and killing someone only to end up in the wilderness and hear the voice of God which told him to “go and free my people”.
Moses was a humble man because of the situation God took him through, prior to sending him to save Israel that is why even after rescuing Israel he could not boast that he saved them. Some people act like they do not have mistakes, there are times where God allows you to fall, so that when you rise up and then He uses you, without having any pride.
So when God heard the prayers of the Israelites, He did not go looking for a priest, He wanted Moses, so things had to happen, understand when I say some of you had to lose your parents, some of you had to fail so that you come to Church (God) looking for help, for some things had to not go well in your life but it was God because He wanted you here.
Some things are thorns to keep us under grace, so every time He remind you that it is not you at work but His. So when God heard the groanings of the Israelites he answered with Moses but How God answers is not the way people will like; He does not go for someone in Bible school, or someone with a pleasing history. God uses you while you have an unpleasant history and He uses that to win souls and keep you humble and whenever you stand, you will always say ‘Father this is your grace, if it was not for you, I would not have been where I am. Now that is why I always say ‘Be thankful, thank Pharaoh and thank Egypt’. It does not mean you always have to be under them however, be thankful for what they did, do not take it too personal.
The other thing I want you to learn from this is that as they were groaning, God remembered His covenant, on that note, what is the covenant of God with your life? What are the promises of God for your life, what did God promise you in the beginning of the year with the prophecy? Your prayer should remind the Lord what He said He will do in your life. These people were not speaking in tongues or saying ‘Father save us’, it was only a cry and this cry reminded the Lord. He has with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, so God had to answer them.
There are times where life become the opposite of what God said, but when you are praying in groaning it reminds Him. So to some I say, stop blaming yourself for what happened; God allowed it, God does not commit sin and He is not evil but there are moments where He will allow evil to come close to you, only to bring you closer to Him. He does not kill but He can allow death to visit you to remind you of immortality!
Every time death knocks, do not fear, remember what the Lord has spoken, “if you believe, you will live and live on.”
[1Samuel 1:8], “Hannah why do you cry, why do you not eat and why are you grieving?” She was grieving, not the Spirit – her flesh, so groaning can be of the Spirit or of the flesh. Your flesh can release a groaning of complain. “…am I no better than 10 sons?” She was crying because she does not have a child but the way she is crying is not through the Holy Spirit, it did not cause her to desire the husband. She lost focus of him, fixing her eyes on the issue of the child, hence the question of the husband.
How do you know if your groaning is from God or someplace else? If your groaning is by the Spirit, it must make to desire the husband. When you groan from your flesh, the more you groan is the more you love the child but when you groan by the Spirit, you love the husband. You see how many people are in fasting and going to the mountains and neglecting God?
They do not love the husband, they love the blessing; they want to increase anointing, they want cars, they want to prosper so much that they have neglected Him. Even when He is not in the mountain yet they are there. When God speaks to them they cannot hear Him.
When the husband confronted Hannah and asked her if he is not more than 10 sons, she was not eating with or spending time with the husband, she had completely neglected him and longed for a child. The moment there is a blessing in your life that takes you away from God, then it is not worth it, cut it out of your life. There are people who say, “If God is really God, then I will see you blessing me with a house”
Verse (9), “So Hannah rose after they had finished eating and drinking”. We can see now that she changed her mind because she went to eat, and now in love with the husband, so the prayer that she now made is not like the first groanings of complaint.
Now she was willing to give up the son (See verse11), she no longer had the love of the son, her heart is now on the husband. This is the prayer that the Holy Spirit has been teaching us, groaning by the Spirit which produces desire for the husband.
Let us get the teaching of groanings; they focus on the husband, it is not a cry of not having money or a car! A prayer that cannot be ignored or left unanswered, when you pray in groanings God responds.
[John 11:33], “he groaned in the spirit and he was troubled.” He was groaning in the Spirit, and cried communing with the Father. “Father, I thank you, for you always hear me when I pray.” But when did He offer a prayer? As he was groaning, that was prayer. So the moment Jesus called out to the Father audibly, it was not the official prayer but He had already groaned (cried) to the Father, it was for the sake of the people who were with Him at the tomb. Groanings had already answered His prayer.
It was not heard by the people as it was not arranged in words. The common mistake we often make as people is to complicate prayer. You do not have to go to the mountain or go into the prayer room (physical structure) to render a prayer, you can just groan in silence, right in the midst of people and commune with the master. The thing that makes groanings to be the perfect prayer is that they do not make you fall in love with what you bring forth but it makes you fall in love with the master.
[Galatians 4:6], “And because you are sons God has sent the Spirit of His son into your hearts crying “Abba Father, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave.” Only when you are a Son then God can send the Spirit of the Son. This is a groaning of worship, it is crying ‘Abba Father’, it cannot be said, but it can be cried out (groaned). When Paul referred to the Galatians as “my little children” (See Galatians 4:19), he was actually teaching them to become Sons. Even though you are an heir, while you still think like a child you cannot be trusted with everything.
Verse (19), “my little children for whom I labour in birth for again…” You are children, I am about to make you Sons by travailing until Christ is fully formed in you, I cry ‘Abba Father’ together with you – a prayer without any weakness. You can groan as a child but now you need to groan as a Son. When an infant cries, the mother searches the mind of the child to find out the concern. Meaning when a child groans, God has to search its mind to see what will please it, but when you are a Son you groan to search the mind of the Father.
If you can boldly say “You are not desperate for a breakthrough, you want to be as God is – maturity has kicked in.” As a Father, I know that you need those things. The Father operates differently from guardians and trustees, when He Father comes and prunes, correct and deal with you first. He does not release things to you before time, He is more interested in your character after you have attained whatever you have prayed for more than pleasing you. He puts your life first before everything!
YESHUA; A CITY ON A HILL, THE LIGHT THAT CANNOT BE HIDDEN!
