‘GOD WILL DEFEND HIS OWN’

The Prodigal Son Spirit
July 5, 2020These days, when you are a minister of God you cant depend on the church only but have to go out and have means unlike in the old and this is difficult. In the old days, they were full time like us but the economy was not the same and money was not central. It was all about finding your own land and stay with your family and just eat what the church gives you but nowadays there are medical bills and other expenses.
Here are things that I need you ministers to avoid:
When you are a minister of the Gospel, make sure you avoid business transactions that involve the church or your sons and daughters. We have seen ministers recruiting their congregants into forex trading and it did not end well for them, when they lost money it affected their spiritual lives as well. Some might understand that you are an honest man and that you honestly lost the money but some might think that you are a fraudster. We are now seeing a new trend of WhatsApp Stokvel – it might be working now but come a few weeks, months it might stop. When the cash flow stops you will end up owing people money and this is not good, especially as a minister. You will end up being labelled as a thief and appearing on TV shows.
This is not only about Stokvel, it can include forex trading and other schemes that require you to recruit people. Stay away from pyramid schemes as minister for the sake of the Gospel and the souls. Do business outside of the church. It is not only about us as pastors – people will generalize and say this is how Christians live. Do not let hunger lead you to do these things. When the flock you lead come to you, they must come looking for advice on their businesses, not to do business with you as a minister.
Some ministers or [Christians] don’t think with a sound mind, they don’t involve and ask God if they should do such a business – all they do is to just recruit. If you are a minister, stay away. Let us also talk about disciples, when they see you – they see you as a minister of the Gospel. You lay hands upon people and cast out demons.
We might want to make money as ministers but we are limited. If you are in forex, do not recruit people, just do it with your own funds because if it does not work out, it tarnishes the reputation of the church as a whole.
You must also stay away from social media – it is not good to be busy looking at people’s lives. God might want to tell you something about someone but because you saw it on Facebook God can’t come and speak. The more you are on social media, chatting you are opening yourself up for vulnerable people. Even with your numbers, it must be limited people that have them. When people see you as a pastor and as handsome as you are and they have your number, they will send you a message – we are leading people who are having challenges. Cutaway social media and don’t struggle with your sons.
You will be able to deal with things in a sound way. Don’t find yourself flashing your life all over. Let people not know how many houses and cars you have. If you show people your good side, show them your bad side as well. If you show them buying a car, also show them when you lose. When you only show them one side you become a deceiver and this does not allow them to discern. If people see you but no souls are won then it’s a loss. Just be a simple man of the spirit.
Also, avoid having friends but brothers. Look for fellowship instead of friendship. Fellowship does not have flaws. It goes with edification, enlightenment, and rebuking. You are able to tell it as it is without buying face. Do not have friends. Many ministers fell from grace because of these things.
Ministers, especially the single ones, stop chatting with sisters. When you do, they see it as you giving them a signal and see themselves as minister’s wives. We have given them a reason for this. Why do you call a sister at night and chatting back and forth or flirting with them? Make sure that when you are comforting the sisters, it is the same way you do it with a brother. If you cannot do it with a brother then you must know you must stop that. Flies always go where there is a smell. Maybe the sisters are in love with you because you are sending signals. Be careful and mindful of the sheep when you interact with them. Be the same with everyone.
Stop making private counselings as well. Make sure you have people around you, in front of people so that you even avoid accusations and eyes outside. I have daughters I live with but I will never allow them to take the front sit in my car because it will send a wrong signal. The Bible says you must be innocent from accusations. We must cut away all these things so that ministry can grow. Be bold as minsters and do not be afraid to lose a sheep or anyone. Do not take sides and have favorites in ministry regardless of what they do at church. Speak the truth and stop gathering. If we try to gather we run with the anointing of Solomon. Be a person of the truth and yes sometimes you will lose people. While you keep people because you’re afraid they will leave, you are just having people who are pretending to be sons, they are just members.
Treat everyone the same way and love at all times and rebuke. Growth happens when we are being corrected and rebuked. As ministers stay away from such things. Stay away from things that will deal with your image. Runaway from associations. I know that sometimes as a minister you will feel like you need someone, speak to your father or have one or two brothers you trust.
