‘WE ARE ANOINTED WITH A HORN; AN ANOINTING WITH FRESH OIL
August 1, 2020Listening and hearing the voice of God is one of the biggest challenges that Christians face because hearing the voice of God is an obstacle in this journey of Christianity. You might find that one can hear the voice of God but not listening to what the voice is saying. Listening is a key factor.
[Exodus 5:1-2]
God commanded Moses to tell Pharaoh to let his people go, this was a command from God, and because Moses listened to what God was saying he obeyed the word he heard but Pharaoh did not listen because he did not know the voice of God. As I said that some can listen to the voice and hear meanwhile we do not hear, Pharaoh heard the voice but he did not listen. Listening and hearing the voice of God is two different things, I would like to share my testimony about separation before I was committed in the Word I had a few challenges in my spiritual life in terms of separation, I would ask myself that if I separate with my family what would I eat or wear, I thought of the love I have for my parents, but God kept telling me that I should separate from them. I heard the voice of God telling me that I should separate but I did not listen. Two years ago I happened to commit a sin and that did not sit well with me as a Christian because I knew the truth about the voice that said I must separate from my family and I disobeyed, what I want to tell you is that listening to the voice of God is very important.
[EXODUS 34:27]
Moses was commanded to write the Ten Commandments on the tablets of stones, how many of us obeyed those commandments even in small situations that required us to obey the commandment. For instance, if siblings live together and the other takes what belongs to the other without their concern when the rightful owner asks about what belongs to him and I say I do not know. By so doing I have already disobeyed the commandments because I stole, and did not show love to my brother. It means when I stole from my brother I also stole from myself because the commandment says love your neighbour as you love yourself. By that l failed to love myself because I failed to love my brother as well.
The commandment says do not steal, love your neighbour as you love yourself. This was a voice from the Lord and Moses heard the voice of God and listened, as he listened he wrote on the tablet as per instruction from God. Until this day we should abide by the commandment of God because God never changes and His Word remains. If God says do not steal then do not steal, I cannot come and say that the Ten commandments is religion only because I want to continue stealing, that is wrong and you ought to love your neighbour as you love yourself.
There was a situation where one of my brothers felt that he was treated unfairly and he went and confessed about being offended, the minute we acknowledged that we were doing him wrong I came to realize that I was not showing love to my brother because of his past. For me, it was like I did not acknowledge my brother because in all that he went through he was mistreated for it. I was guilty of that because I asked myself how could I mistreat my brother because of his situation when I should love him instead.
[Exodus 15:25-26]
We all know the story of Moses from birth but this was after Moses released the people of Egypt from Pharaoh and God said if you diligently listen to His voice – the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight and will give ear to His commandment. Moses heard, listened, and obeyed the commandment of God even though the challenges he went through, he stood by the voice of God he remained obedient to it. He never lost focus on what God had instructed him to do which was to deliver His people. Moses found strength in what God had told him to do, he went and struck the rock and God provided water to feed them all.
How many people listened to the prophecy that was released that we should not fear what is happening in our country because nothing will happen to us? The Lord’s commandment said that “none of these diseases will fall upon you” therefore whatever that is happening in the world will not harm us because God said so. Some believed in the beginning but as time went on they started fearing the effects of what is happening but those who still believe will not be harmed because they know that the voice of the father is the voice of God and God will not put all this harm upon us, he says that He is the God who heals us.
The minute you believe the Words that are from the Father He will heal you. Last Sunday our father said that no weapon formed against us will prosper; he said that even if you catch this virus it will not harm you. We should not fear but instead listen to the voice of God, our fear should be what will happen when we do not listen to the voice of God. The minute we fear the virus instead of the voice of God we get to be weak and the devil can easily play with us. Therefore listen to the commandment of God.
Shadrach Meshach and Abednego were thrown in the fire but in their situation, they still kept the commandment of God only because they knew the true God who is a healer. The very same God who said that He will put none of these diseases upon us and because these men feared the Lord He was with them in the fire and the fire could not harm them because they were covered by the Glory of the Lord. It should be so even with us, no situation must move us from the commandment of God, and no situation must be allowed to do injustice in our spiritual life by disobeying the voice of God. Our spiritual life should be our number one priority because it is the living being of God.
[Deuteronomy 4:33-34]
Our God is not a God of war; He will never come to you by temptation but by the Word. He is not a tempter He can’t tell you what is against His Word, the minute you refrain from stealing when you are tempted to, that shows that you heard the voice of God. God revealed Himself through the situation where you were tempted to steal but you did not. We should listen and obey the voice of our Father, fear must not reign in our lives. It should not control us or even make decisions for us but our first priority should be fearing the Word of God. David was a man after God’s heart; he feared that not being after God’s heart will come with repercussions; therefore our minds should know to fear the Lord so that we can be able to receive from Him. For David to long for God’s heart was a sign of maturity and that is what Christians should do. We must always know that the Father is in us and we are in Him as well. Resting in the heart of the Father will make God rest in us.
Let God delight in us by longing to be one with Him, living as a Christian should set our minds to longing for God. We must not despise any form that God appears to us with but instead, we must acknowledge that He is the Father and He came in the form of my brother. The minute you despise one of your brothers you are showing immaturity because I say that maturity is longing for God‘s heart. A mature man is the one who knows how to kneel down and cry before the Father, it is a man who knows how to embrace the power that is upon his father. When our father told me that I am going to be a pastor I first despised myself and reminded myself that I do not know the bible and I started comparing myself with others but as the Father taught that we should not let anyone despise us, I learned from that because teaching comes in any form. So as I speak now I say that I and the father are one, so despising myself can separate me from what God has placed me in. God cannot come and say to me that I am a worshiper and I immediately start meditating about not being able to sing because I will lose courage in what God has said. By that, you will be saying that you believe that the Father is wrong by telling you that you are what He said you are.
I have heard many of my brothers denying everything that the father has said they are and but by so doing they reveal disbelieve that is within them. By agreeing to what the father says, I say that I am what my father says I am, I will take his word and live with it. When he says that he is one with us it means that he delights in us, therefore we must acknowledge that he is the mouthpiece of God and the bible confirms what he says as well so we should stop despising ourselves. I honour and appreciate each and everything that he has done for us because his teachings brought joy in my life. And I was able to overcome my struggles through his teaching.
I also would like to talk about the power that God has bestowed upon us. Samson’s power was in his hair and the minute it was cut, the vessel that God demonstrated his power through Samson was no longer there although the power was still within him. People who knew that Samson’s power was in his hair, they cut it but when it grew back he was more powerful than before because the power was from within him.
I would like to share a testimony about the anointing oil. The first time I received the anointing oil, I didn’t believe that the miracles that our father did by laying hands could be done by the small bottle of oil, but this anointing oil carries power and it should not be separated as a deed of God. I used to carry the bottle of anointing in my bag even though I did not acknowledge that it carries power, I was not confident enough to use it in public, with this testimony I want to help someone who is like me. This bottle of anointing oil represents our father and God because it carries the power of God in it, and in every situation that you may be faced with do not be afraid to reveal it, do not be ashamed of the gospel of our Lord.
Do not be ashamed of who you are because you allowed God to take over your life. The power of God is amazing and to know that we poses the fruit of the spirit, that will help us not to be harmed in many ways. Showing love in small things shows that you are one with the father and that you have the fruit of the Spirit. Our father is a good example for me because I have never had a dull moment with him, I see all the fruits of the Spirit in him and as we also learn from him we should always reflect the Spirit that is inside him.
When our father rebukes us, we should not despise and underestimate his words, but instead, we should have pride in what he says because that is what God has revealed to him. We are what the after says we are. I also thank God for our Sunday school teachers because they allow God to work through them. It is our responsibility to listen to them as God has placed them before us, God loved us so much that He gave them to us, the life of our father should be a teaching to us all.
If we look at the life of Adam and Eve and what came out of them, Eve had a choice just as Judas had a choice to listen to the voice of God. Judas heard the voice that told him to take the money and also the other that told him not to, but he made a choice to take the money. Again in the time of repentance, he had a voice of God that allowed him to repent and the other that denied him to, you cannot think of repentance unless God is ministering it to you. Judas made a choice of not repenting. He knew the voice of God through Jesus Christ.
We cannot say that Judas had the love of money, but he had a choice to either listen or not listen. Peter also had a choice, when Jesus told him that he will deny him three times there was a teaching and a commandment that Peter will deny. Peter had a choice to not listen and obey; this was a teaching for us to know that God can instruct us to deny him. Even though Peter did not deny Jesus that would have not changed the fact that Jesus was going to be nailed on the cross, either way, Jesus had to leave them by the way of the cross. If Jesus was not nailed on the cross we would not be able to conquer many situations that we encounter, death would not be defeated but now it is. The resurrection power was revealed by the death being defeated.
In this day and age, we still hear the Word that death is defeated, even though I may encounter a death situation I will not be amazed when my father resurrects me because the Spirit that rose Jesus from the dead lives in me. I believe that to fear the word of God is to obey the word of God. There is a difference between fearing and being scared, the other one comes with torture and the other with love. We cannot fear the word of God without loving it. Fear goes hand in hand with love.
[EXODUS 19:5]
We confessing that we are Christians and our neighbours knowing that we are born again should be a remembrance of the commandment of God because God delights in us obeying His commandments. He says he will treasure us among all people and when we are one in the Spirit, we cannot be separated from each other because we carry the same Spirit of the Father. We live in the earth that belongs to God; even though it may seem that the devil has his weight over us we must always know that we conquer by the word of God.
When our father lays hands on us whatever we receive must be a resemblance of God’s Word in our lives, we must live according to the commandment that we receive from the Father because he is one with God. Eat the Word of God each day and continue living as a Christian that you would be in church. Continue being in your garden and let it be wherever you are. If the Spirit of God says that you must pray let it be, do not argue with God because you are not in your garden. By this, I say always be in the Word of God. Do not have a specific place or time to meet with God but carry the garden in you.
There is a song that says I will respond, respond as God says you must. Be in prayer at all times and learn how to be in the resting place at all times. Do not tell yourself that you pray at a certain time because God longs for some of you in different ways. Pray as per God’s instructions. Jesus Christ being nailed on the cross was a seal of approval that all things are done. Us believing that we have the power to save someone’s life, to change lives is a reminder that death was the last enemy to be defeated.
