‘DO NOT GO OUT WITHOUT RECEIVING POWER’
July 13, 2021New Beginnings
August 11, 2021Do not allow situations to change you. As we live in this world God says I am sending you as sheep among wolves, but do not allow wolves to teach you how to buck, or how to be conniving. Do not allow them to teach you how to hunt for food. You are sent as a sheep among wolves not to become a wolf but to remain as a sheep at all times. No one must change you, only the Word must change you. Let’s hold on to the teachings that God gave us. Do not allow circumstances, people, or what you feel to change you.
I always say that the first battle is internal. Your emotions and feelings are the ones that cause you to open up to the wrong people or things. You must die to self because that is what Christianity is all about. It is all about taking the cross and following Him. It is about denying yourself.
It can never be about accepting yourself the way you are. Hence there is a need for a new creature to be there because the new can never be like the old. Hold on to the faith, do not conform. Some things seem okay but they are not because the Word does not approve. There are things like bribe or dating which seems normal because of the world that we live in. Do not allow what seems normal to contaminate you. Do not allow it to be your lifestyle.
There are things that Christians are now doing and it has become a norm. Hold on to the teachings and what God has given you. One thing I can teach you as a father, do not be responsive/reactive towards situations. Let us be who we are and not allow things to change us. You might ask why am I not talking about the looting and all, but it is because God has not said anything. In Him not speaking to me it does not mean He did not speak to others. The moment you allow situations to affect your prayer life then know that something is wrong.
If you lose your job and the Spirit does not lead you to pray about it then keep quiet. We must be led by the Spirit in all situations. Do not allow the devil to dictate your prayer life. It is possible not to have money in the house and not pray about it because you are in the Spirit. When you are in the flesh you will react towards everything. Our prayers must be led by Spirit, when God has not spoken it should not be in your prayer list.
[1 Corinthians 15:1]
“Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the Gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved if you hold fast that Word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.”
If you are not holding on to the Word that was preached to you, your belief was in vain. This is talking about the belief you always had. You have to hold on to the Word that was preached to you so that your belief may not be in vain. For every person that backslidden, their belief was in vain. Believe is work, when it says work on your salvation it is the same as believing. Imagine working the whole month and you do not get paid, it means you worked the whole month in vain. When you do not hold on to the Word your belief becomes in vain, meaning the confessions you made about immortality becomes useless.
People do not know that the moment they deviate from the Word they lose all those prayers and commitments, which means the belief they had become in vain. When it comes to the Gospel you must have the mindset of a gambler. The reason why they are still gambling is that they are thinking of the money they have put in and lost. The more they lose the more they bet.
They feel like they have invested so much to give up now, have that mindset as a Christian. I have served so much and tithed so much for me to stop believing now. Have that mindset lest everything you have becomes in vain. Hold fast to the Word I preach to you, remember there is a question, what would Jesus do? Now the question is ‘what has Papa Abraham taught us?’ The teachings you have received are sufficient to keep you. Every time you go through something you must think of what papa has taught you.
[2 Timothy 1:13]
Hold on to the faith that you have received. Why do we need to hold on to the faith we have received, it is because what is in us is not from us. You have been entrusted, the minute you conform to the standards of the world you lose what you have been entrusted with. There is the strength that Jesus has already given you hence there is no need for you to conform to the standards of the world or even lose the faith that you have already received. There is the strength that has been given to you that can keep you throughout all situations.
If you go and test for a driver’s license and they make you fail when you do not pay a bribe (money), this shows that you have been given strength. The thing is that we choose to ignore the strength that we have received. The needed strength is there. The very same Word that you have received and need to hold on to is the strength that you need to survive in this world.
It is not a matter of us teaching you that you should not conform to the standards of this world, but there is divine intervention. The Bible says in Romans 3 all have sinned and fell short of the glory. It means no one could be righteous, so you being righteous and being able to stand is because of the strength that you have received as a Christian. God has trusted you with strength because He sees you as faithful and trustworthy. God believes in you more than you believe in yourself.
He trusts us because He knows that we can survive. In these trialing times do you think Paul would have survived? Do you think that the Word he taught would bear fruits now in him more than it bears fruits in us now? Seasons change, climate changes and it affects plantations.
The same seed can be planted in different places but because of climate change, there is a possibility that it would not survive. For God to place you as a tree for this climate, He trusted you. Many of you despise yourself, you feel as though you are nothing and that the ones in the Bible were better, but I am here to tell you that you are capable because they would not have survived these times. The challenges that we meet are not the same as Peter or Paul.
They have survived being bitten and jailed but can they survive the nonsense we see on television(e.g homosexuality). Remember that they were grounded by culture, so it is possible that these times were going to be too difficult for Paul, and God knew that he would not have survived. You are not here by mistake. You were born for such a time as this, it was going to be irrelevant for you to be born in the times of Paul because you have too much strength in you to withstand these trialing times. Some needed Jesus to be there physically for them to believe, but you believe even without seeing Him. You believed by just hearing the message. I am not saying this with pride but I am trying to show you the quality that you are. Jesus knew that we are better than that generation.
The strength is already in you, He knows that you are capable of standing against this world, you can say no. With them, it was easy to read the bible because there was nothing to disturb them, no TV or radios, but with you, there is so much distraction around. Our trials are internal more than they are external, it is not a matter of being bitten.
[Hebrews 4:10-15 ]
Our battles are not the same. Why do you think that for you not conform to the things of the world you have to do it on your own? Rest my friend, you have strength in you. (Verse 14), we have someone who stands for us, we are not alone. You have a High Priest, but remember that in John it says ‘I will give you the Holy Spirit, the Advocate, the Counsellor’, you have the fullness of God and the High Priest who speaks for you.
We have the Holy Spirit praying for us, hence I say we are more capable of surviving more than them, they never had what we have. We have divine help left and right, when we talk of angels we are even degrading ourselves because God has given Himself to assist us. He has not sent an angel to walk with you or speak for you, we have divine help. If you think the only time God left His throne was when Jesus came to die on the cross then you are wrong, because He had to leave His throne to come and dwell in us. He has become the light to us, hence the Bible says greater is He who is in us than the one in the world. Do not let down the God that you have.
We cannot have the best and still fail. Know what you have and carry it. We quote that ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’ only when things are nice, but it should be in all circumstances. Christ is the one that makes us be able to stand throughout all situations. We can say no because grace says no. Grace has spoken thus it is easy for us to say no. We are good followers therefore let us follow a good leader. People are followers in their nature, follow the right grace that is in you. You do not hear the Word so that you may be bombarded with the Word, but follow as you face situations.
We have a leader, when we say do not conform to the world, your weakness might be the one pushing you but do not look at this world. When it says Jesus was tempted in all temptations it means He was weak in all. The devil cannot tempt you with what you are strong in. Jesus was weak in everything but He was able to conform and withstand all weaknesses. Do not make your weakness your excuse. To show that Jesus dealt with the impossible and it became possible look at the prostitutes that Jesus met. All these women had a sinful nature, this is a weakness that destroys Christians like nobody’s business, yet when Jesus came, the solution that He gave them was the Word. He did not advise them to get married.
The weakest were able to stand. Mary Magdalene left the world and did not even fall into the church hence she was able to preach to them and tell them that Jesus has risen. She did not leave boyfriends in the world only to have boyfriends in the church. Some people leave sin in the world only to fall in church with the same sin, they stop drinking or smoking only to sin in the church. Marry Magdalene did not even fall for Jesus nor the disciples. Allow the Word to change you. Do not conform to the standards of the world. You are not a zebra, you are not the same as other people, and you are unique in all your ways so stop conforming.
[2 Corinthians 9:8]
“And God can make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”
Your water, my water. This is water from above, this is His water. We are going to drink this water in agreement with this scripture that let His grace abound. This grace is going to abound. This grace is abounding for these reasons, so that you may have sufficiency in all things, so that you may have an abundance for every good work. This grace will abound so that you may give to the poor and His righteousness may abound forever. This grace will abound so that it may multiply the seed that is sown. You are going to sow the seed and God will multiply it. He will increase the fruit of our righteousness. (Verse 11), this is not limited to spiritual richness but it is riches in everything.
