“KNOW THE VOICE OF THE SHEPHERD

[John 10:1-6]

It is important for the sheep to know the voice of the Shepherd. There is a big problem in our society that we tend to not know the voice of God. There are many voices speaking in us that we cannot know which one is of the Shepherd. In your journey as a Christian, they will be many voices. God does not expect you to know your voice but to know the voice of the Shepherd. We become confused, we go out of the road that God is leading us because we do not know the voice. God doesn’t promise to stop other voices to speak but you ought to know the voice of God. There might be a voice that says that you not going to make it, but I want you today to know the voice of the Father. Not the voices of other people.

God did not say that He will stop the voices of other people who say to you that you will not make it but He says that you will know His voice. I want to stick to this one voice, the voice of the Shepherd. Remember prophet Elijah when he wanted to commit suicide thinking that he is the only prophet that is left, he was depressed. This is a man who was walking with God, but he was depressed. While he was speaking to God about wanting to die, God came and took him. When you go through troubles do not do anything. Stand still and allow God to lead you. That is what happened to the prophet of God, he stood still and God led him and ravens came and gave him food and he was led to the mountain.

When he was at the mountain, there were earthquakes and fire, but the voice of God was not there. Then God came in a small voice. Sometimes when we are looking for God in fire, He is not there but God is just in you in a small voice. It takes that small voice to keep you. In our journey as Christians, we face many challenges. Deception comes in a loud voice, but you just need to hear that small voice. Do not know the manner of the voice but know the voice of God. People get used to the manner of how God speaks and not the voice. We need to know the voice of God and not the manner in how He does things. When you know His voice, you will hear Him in the midst of rebuke and troubles.

In many things being said, you will hear the voice of God. Let us not get used to how God speaks but know His voice. I want you to label your own voice as a voice of a stranger. When you take your own voice and make it a familiar voice, it will be a voice that will lead you astray. Let your voice be a voice of a stranger. Do not allow your thoughts to be a familiar voice. Know only the voice of God. It was important that God told you that you need to carry your cross and follow Him and die to yourself. Do not only die to yourself by serving Him in the church but die also to your thoughts and voice. The voice that speaks within you needs to die.

The problem is that we trust our voices and it is not even our voices that told us to be born-again. The bible tells us that no one can believe unless the Holy Spirit enables him. Even for you to be born-again it was not your voice or your own thoughts but it was the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was coming in you. Do not be familiar with any other voice but allow the voice of God to be your voice. Any other voice let it be a stranger. Do not allow bad information to enter your ears. The ear that God was looking for in Revelation was meditation. Your normal ear can hear but the moment you meditate you are now listening with the ear of the Spirit. The minute someone tells you that you are stupid, and you meditate on it, you are using the ear of the Spirit to process what is negative. Do not allow that ear to process what is negative and what kills you.

You are given that specific ear to hear what is from God. What enters your normal ear will not harm you unless you give it power by meditating on it. Do not sit on negative words. The bible says that “resist the devil and he will flee away”. Resist him in your ears. Do not resist him like Joseph where we resist him and then we run away and we leave the garment. Resist him in your mind. It is either you take failure and you put it under your feet or in your head. Choose where you want to put it. You put it in your head, it will suppress you but if you put that failure under your feet you are getting closer to your purpose. Do not allow that negative word to get in you. It is okay to go through it but it is wrong to meditate on it.

[Psalms 23:1-6]

There is a place where you need to rest and meditate. The only way He can make you lay down is when you know His voice. When it speaks about the valley it does not speak about leading. There is a place to lay and there is a place to walk through. The valley of death is not a permanent place for you to stay there. The valley is not your destination but a place to walk through. Never mistaken the valley as your greener pastures. It is a place to walk through. God is telling you that a small voice will not leave you in times of trouble. In your failure, God is with you. In your depression, God is still with you. God will never leave you when you are walking through your failure.

Everything needs to be tested and when you are being tested do not look at it as a failure.
Sometimes it is because we do not know who we are and that is why we are discouraged. When we know who we are and listen to the voice of the Shepherd we know that we are born of an incorruptible seed. Remember God said that you are tested by fire. Not all things can be tested with fire. Do not go and identify yourself with a plastic that can be burnt in the fire but you are born of the Word. Even though you go through the fire you can never burn. When you go through troubles and see them as a place of worship, you will see that you are not alone. That is why David had to say that he is not alone. Rebuke is comfort. If you do not see rebuke as comfort just know that you are in the wrong kingdom.

[Psalms 31:1-4]

We have a place to run to. The solution is in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the answer. In the very same world and the things we are going through, Jesus is the answer. Even before He was born, He has been the answer. Other places will disappoint you but there is Jesus who says that He will not leave you nor forsake you. God never leaves us. You will not go through everything alone, but He is with you. everything has its time to expire but not Jesus. Jesus never disappoints. Stick to Jesus and He will never leave you. Jesus walks with you. He says that come with your burden and He will be patient with you. When we got born again we did not become immune to the things that we are supposed to go through. Christianity is not immunity.

When you were promised that when you are born-again you will not get sick, they lied to you. The truth is that we will go through the valley of the shadow of death but we will fear no evil because we know what we are going through in order to get to the other side. The more we grow the more we face mountains. Every mountain has a purpose. The more the challenges are, the bigger the harvest. Do not look at the mountain and think that it is over. Whenever you walk as a Christian you pick up mountains. It is a battle to live in this world but you are defeated when you do not have Jesus. We have someone who is with you that is why Jesus has made you with an incorruptible seed. Do not look at yourself but look at Jesus. Through Him all things are possible.

We are strong in Him and not in us. we are protected because we are with Jesus. He has conquered the world and you are more than a conqueror. Ancestors failed and died but with Jesus, He came and He conquered. He conquered it so that you may also conquer. He is the only God who has conquered what we are facing. Other gods failed but He has conquered it all. He will never fail you. It is impossible for Him to fail us because He is with us. He has put Himself in a situation that the world is facing because He knew that they will fail and He will conquer. Hold on because you are going to make it. Death is not an answer. Suicide is not an answer but Jesus is the answer. Tell that spirit that you are already dead. A dead man cannot die twice. Tell that Spirit that Jesus has died for me there is no price to be paid for me to be happy.

[Psalms 71:1-6]

As human beings sometimes it gets there, where there is no way out. The only place that we could get to is at the feet of Jesus. Run to Him and you will never regret it. As the bible says that “His sheep knows Him by His voice and not the voice of a stranger”. Let us hear the voice of the Lord and follow. Allow Him to teach you His voice so that when you come across troubles, you will run to His place. Hear His voice. You will heal. You will walk. It is not over.
