‘THE MESSAGE FROM THE LORD TO THE BODY OF CHRIST(CHURCH)’-Part 1
September 30, 2021
Christ means character, be Holy as He is – He expects us to be as He is (see 1 Peter 1:16). We understand we cannot portray Him merely by having His name; we must also have His character. Being Holy as He is, this is a verb – a doing word.
Bearing His name only without His character is like those women who said to Jesus “Give us Your Name but we will provide bread/food ourselves” (see Isaiah 4:1). With that said, do not find yourself providing bread for yourself, because by doing that you have become many christs. Christ is a character and until we become a full stature of God, and become who He is then we still don’t have this character.
[Colossians 2:1-2]
Many people do not know the mystery of God, which is Christ. The mystery of God is the character that He has – Christ. Often many think they know God, whilst they do not know Him.
It says that we may be united in love in the heart. We have been loving the outer and not the inner. How we live is very important, because that is how we will demonstrate our love.
(Verse 2) God is love and love is demonstrated better in actions. God is love and love is Christ. Love without actions is not love. We must see by the way you live, that you truly love because the absence of love is sin. The love which Adam gave to Eve was not true love, because he sinned with her, however, the second Adam (Christ) saved the women. With that said if we truly love we will ensure that the next person is saved.
[Philippians 2:3]
“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.”
You esteem others high not with mere words but your ways of living. The first act that you hate the next person is when you are a believer and you get into a relationship with an unbeliever. If you truly love the unbeliever you won’t be in a relationship with them so that they can surely know that salvation is true, but being with them means you are not convincing them. Expressing your weaknesses to an unbeliever is simply showing them that salvation is unreal. Do not waste what you cannot replace; a person’s soul is more precious.
In the book of Acts, it says, “don’t you know brethren, that when you have issues with each other you can solve them among yourselves, I’ve heard that some of you have gone to unbelievers to reveal things in the house of the Lord” – never undress and uncover yourself or other believers to unbelievers. Certain things happen in a life of a believer which an unbeliever should never know.
Rather your weakness is known by your spiritual father than an unbeliever. With that said it is easy for a believer to remain whilst they see others sinning in Christ, but it is very hard to win an unbeliever who has seen believers sinning. It is easy to reject what you have not tasted. We as believers are the ones who are not allowing unbelievers to taste salvation.
The Bible goes to an extent where it says in the book of Matthew 5:43 that “love your enemies as you love yourself” and it goes on to say “love your neighbors as you love yourself”. However, if you truly love your neighbor you won’t associate with unbelievers because if they get exposed to your weaknesses they won’t know Christ. Move-in the love of God, the fear of not wanting to be a stumbling block will save both of you.
[Colossians 2:2]
“that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ,”
These riches that we need to know are not of money but the Character of God. We need to know who God is. Many pray for mysteries and to know God and His mysteries, this is not only in His Word but the mystery of God is also how He lives. In so doing we must be united in love – all the law is fulfilled in love. Only in love is the whole law fulfilled, we cannot merely speak of character alone as it is associated with love.
[Philippians 2:1-7]
We are often called Christians, our unity is not in the shared name but our oneness is based on how we think and do things. How we unite and how we live. Love is a doing word, therefore one can be deceived if love is merely uttered and not in actions. Contribution has power hence one must be careful of what they say to their fellow brother, many have contributed to their fellow brethren’s fall. One’s soul is very important, if Jesus left the 99 and went to look for the 1 this is a clear illustration that a mere soul matters.
Unite in love and live a life which, 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 addresses – the love that is not selfish, however, sin is selfish in its own nature. Sin is always singular and not considerate of the next person. To esteem others higher than yourself means to serve them with your holiness and righteousness.
Do not call yourself a servant while you live recklessly and not live according to the calling you have received. Directed to born-again sisters, as long as an unbelieving boy is able to hold your hand or your waist, it is as though you have taken the cup out of the Holy of Holies and placed it in the house of Nebuchadnezzar. You are not different from the king who took the cup from the secret place and went to drink from it at the party and the hand appeared and wrote: “Mene, Mene Tekel” (See Daniel 5:1).
That is what God is saying regarding your body “Mene Mene Tekel”, God is saying why is this uncircumcised Philistine holding your body? The cup needs to be kept holy, but it can never be kept holy if it is outside. They can only touch what is in the open. It says if the priest enters the Holy of Holies sinful they will die, but unfortunately with you, you have taken the cup out of the Holy of Holies, hence when the ungodly touch they do not die.
There is no righteousness which one must create for themselves, as it has been freely given unto us. With that said it is easy to imitate, therefore let us imitate Christ, grace is better than religion. Without despising unbelievers, as believers never gamble with your life.
