‘ALL TRUTH IS IN THE SPIRIT’

‘LET IT BE THE SPIRIT OF SERVING THAT COMPELS YOU TO SERVE’
December 9, 2020This is the continuation of last week’s message. Servanthood is important, we must involve ourselves in the business of the Father and that is in the Church. Jesus came not to give us salvation only but also to give us a meaning for salvation. We have received salvation and this true meaning can only be obtained through serving.
Love compels us to serve, it was not just a mere decision for Jesus to die for us but He was compelled by love. All the doings of the world did not benefit God, but because of His love for us, our doings affected Him.
When Jesus was offered to us He came as a servant to serve us, to die for us. Therefore hence it is fitting for us to serve one another. As we practice such we will be serving Christ. Serving is done or practiced in love and by so doing we are serving God as He is love. Although salvation is freely given unto us it is our duty to work it out. The quality of the salvation received is important and serving is what keeps the quality.
When we love one another we ought to serve one another. Serving is how love is demonstrated hence we must serve each other. To those who might choose not to serve, the question is are you keeping the quality of your salvation? How is it for one to proclaim that they are saved but yet nothing is coming out of them?
When God said, ’David is a man after His heart’ it means He saw the works of David. Therefore you cannot say you love God but yet do not serve Him. Get this, this is not to say you must work for the love of God but yet when you truly love someone it is demonstrated in actions.
Often in serving, one might get tired or weary, strength runs out but when you trust in the Lord, He strengthens you. Strength runs out but that is not an indication that one should stop serving. When you become weak it is not an opportunity to relax and hand yourself over to your weakness but it is the right time to seek God. Often in our weaknesses, we fail to seek God but we withdraw.
The life of a believer is the life of a servant. It was possible for Jesus to descend on earth for three years and just stay and only come out on the last day and go to the cross. But He saw it fitting that before He goes to the cross to first serve us. Those 3 years of Jesus’ ministry are crucial years that every believer must learn from, as those years contain all essence of Christianity.
The most basic thing which Jesus did was to serve. He went up to the mountain to heal and teach. Therefore Jesus being God, was able to serve us, so what more about us. Why is it that we do not see the need to serve? We need to get up and serve. The one that is serving the other is the one benefiting, not the other way.
[1 Peter 4:10-11]
As each and everyone has received a gift, you do not have to question yourself what is your gift because the greatest gift we have all been granted is salvation. For us to remain in our rightful positions we must lean against something. As a believer or Christian, there are certain things that will make you vulnerable. Those things will try to move you from your position but you need something to strengthen you in that position and that is serving.
When you are fully devoted and committed in your serving nothing will take you out, because you are rooted. Similarly with trees, for them not to be uprooted or moved from their position is not because of their roots but it is the environment that sustains them. What matters is where the roots of the tree are. Therefore we must serve in order to be solidified.
If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength that God has provided, strength has been granted because it is needed. When you serve using your own strength it runs out but God is there to provide. We ought to seek strength when it runs out and not withdraw from serving. Serving is not easy and we are not saying serving is difficult because the strength to do the works of God is given.
In your respective departments, it won’t be difficult for you to serve because the strength to serve has been given. What blinds us from seeing strength is due to our commitment, we are not fully committed. As a new believer, you can do anything and even want to go the extra mile because there is love that compels you. You had so much strength but yet along the way you got used to it.
There is strength to do every work and if you have a gift you must use it. Therefore with the gift you have, you cannot say you do not want to use it in the house of God while He is the one that gave you the gift. Often people compare and see that the same gift can generate money for them in the world. However unaware that the same serving they were doing at Church they are now doing it in the world.
The fear of the Lord is no longer there, you have lost commitment and got used to it. The gift that God has granted us is for one another. Therefore that gift you cannot use it in the world, it has been granted to service the house of the Father. Therefore let us serve in the house of God, if we love one another let us serve each other.
[2 Thessalonians 3:6-8]
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you to move away from certain believers. Often when one stops serving it is not due to the outside influence. It is those in the Church who influence others to stop serving because they are idlers and lazy. Hence we drag one another into not serving. However the Bible warns us to stay away from such believers, they are disruptive and they disrupt your serving and also the flow of God’s strength.
When you are with these lazy believers you eventually become tired of doing the works of God. They are disruptive therefore stay away from such as they do not live according to the teachings. We must live according to the teachings we have received. If you do not serve then you are not living according to the teachings.
We are not serving to obtain grace or salvation as it is freely given. There is no amount of work we can do to receive grace. Salvation needs the quality, we need not to be lazy. Because your laziness is a sign that you not receiving from God. If you stop serving because you want to put food on your table then it means God is not your provider.
Many do not realize that their serving will be the reason that there is food on their table. Your serving will serve as a reference. The current job I am doing, during my job interview I shared that I received a certificate for punctuality at church. I received this job because of that. With that said your level of serving is your level of love for God.
Let us introspect ourselves, it is highly impossible to say you will stop serving and yet you say you will love God more. When we serve we are doing God’s work. We tend not to serve because we do not view the temple as our home. Our minds are with self and not the Kingdom. We fail to see Christ and if we do not see Him in one another then we won’t serve each other.
Even if you are not remunerated for your serving but God sees it, Christ is the value. Imagine if God says for everything He grants you, in return, you must pay Him. How much would you pay Him for your life, how much does your life worth? You are losing value which carries weight and that is Christ. Therefore let us serve and involve ourselves in the business of the Father, let us take care of our home.
It is an error to be awarded employee of the year title at your workplace but in the house of God, there is nothing to show. It is like saying to God you can sustain yourself, you have been awarded for your dedication at work but in the house of God, there is nothing. Where is your commitment? Serving is what brings and keeps us glued to God. When Apostle Paul said what can separate us from the love of God, and started naming those things. There is something he did not mention and that is yourself, but there is a possibility that you can separate yourself from the love of God.
Introspect yourself as the serving is about you. By not serving you are separating yourself from God’s love. After such teachings, we believe we will all serve. Rather struggle while you are serving. Let us go forward in serving in the house of the Lord. When you are serving there are people observing and aspiring to be like you. You are a teaching but when you stop serving you are a deceiver. After such teachings, we are all going to serve one another for the benefit of the body of Christ.
