“TITHE AND OFFERING, DEFEAT SPIRIT OF MAMMON” 

If it is still an obstacle for one to tithe, offer, or give then in your prayer you should not ask God to bless you with finances as you still struggling in that area of giving. With that said if money still defeats you then too much of it will kill you. Many are struggling with giving because of the spirit of mammon and such people their prayer request should not include finances. Those who find themselves praying for finances and yet struggles with tithing and offering should know that they are not Spirit-led in their prayer.

One should be able to handle/master money and that can only happen when it is utilized where you do not benefit physically.  Many who have been tithing have not received any receipts yet but they are still tithing and offering. The evidence that one has defeated mammon, is when you continue to give where you do not benefit. Many are mastered by this spirit (Mammon) hence it is difficult for them to offer or tithe.

Tithing and offering destroy the love of money, when the Bible says in (1 Timothy 6:10) Money is the root of all evil. You destroy the root of evil by tithing and offering.

[Matthew 19:20-24]

The conversation between the man and Jesus was a conversation of immortality. This man was rich and usually rich people give to orphans however he failed because he was not instructed to give only a portion of what he had but he was instructed to give up all that he had. The first test to determine that you do not love money is when you give the first fruit, this is how one should test themselves. What challenged this man was having to give with his all not just a portion.

This man came to God seeking salvation and eternal life. Jesus was explaining to the man that to receive salvation one must believe in the Son. This man believed that Jesus was God, hence he called Him good. For one to receive salvation they must believe, this was a parable teaching. This man was initially born again because he knew that Jesus was a good teacher. Though the man had salvation he did not have life.

Jesus advised the man that he should keep His commandments, which the man uttered he kept them all from his youth. There was one which he violated which is in (Exodus 20:2) “Thou Shalt Have No Other Gods before Me.”

Many are still not rich because they do not give out their first fruit, they think first fruits are only given out when they get new jobs but biblically this was done annually. God blessed them amazingly hence they were able to give first fruit annually.

(Verse 22) It is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God, a camel entering into a needle hole… this riddle meant what is impossible with man is possible with God. God is able to put you into a state where you have nothing, in this manner to conquer the love of money is to learn to live without money.

Similarly, God challenged this man to live without money but the man could not adhere. Although the man kept the commandments he was not perfect, (22) however for him to be perfected he had to give with his all, his treasures and he went away sorrowful. Many are with God yet their hearts are somewhere. Many have love for something and it threatens their salvation.

[John 3:16]

For God, so loved the world that He gave His only Son, this is salvation. That whosoever believes in Him shall not die, but have eternal life. Salvation is believing in the one whom God has sent. (Romans 11)How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? This is salvation.

[Matthew 6:24]

No one can serve two masters, it is either he will love the one and hate the other. The minute one does not tithe they become disloyal to someone and similarly, the minute one does not tithe they become disloyal to someone/something, you cannot serve them both it is either you are loyal to God or money.  Your love for money does not threaten your love for God but clearly shows that you are empty or the love of God as you cannot love both at the same time. Failure to give or tithe shows that you love money.

[Exodus 20:2-3]

You shall not have any other God. In the book of Deuteronomy, it says one should not serve any other God. God does not have time to fight other gods whom He, Has defeated. Many have been committing spiritual adultery they are married to Christ yet have other gods. Often when other people get paid they are unable to give it up, they are unable to give nor tithe. Meaning you are married to the spirit of money (Mammon) you serve two masters. Hence it was hard for the man in Matthew 19, he could not give it up and he left sorrowful because he loved his money and position. When you do not tithe nor give, the spirit of mammon is able to speak against God.

Money is a spirit that can either use you or you can use it. Money actually represents the value of what one has. Hence it is can be distinguished as a spirit because once it is in your bank account you can not physically see it nor touch it, you cannot use that number or amount to purchase something. With that said there is a system which one can bow down to, therefore do not find yourself being ruled by the system of the world.

(3) You shall not serve any other gods before me, meaning Christians who serve God together with other gods bring those other gods before Him. You love money, you then hate God. It is either you are faithful to one and not to the other, money does not follow those who are faithful to it. The spirit of money is a predator.

[James 2:19]

Even demons tremble, the young man who came before Jesus believed that Jesus is God however he could not be perfected because he could not give up all that he had. People who cannot tithe nor offer are compared or similar to demons. They tremble before God; indeed, they believe but they do not love.
