Submitting comes before covering

Main Message – Part 2

[1 Corinthians 11:1-16], verse (3), “But I want you to understand that Christ is the head (authority over) of every man, and man is the head of woman, and God is the head of Christ.” As the Lord Jesus was walking on earth, He had two personalities, the one of a Son and of a Father. The Father in question is not the one in heaven. Remember, in one of my recent teachings I said, ‘’Christ is the Father of Jesus’’.

Who is Jesus? He is a man, born as a son to Mary and Joseph. So wife (Church), you have a man, it is Jesus, He is your head, and His head is Christ. And the head of Christ is God. Christ (the Word) is Fathered. There are three witnesses in heaven; the father, word and the Spirit, there is no Son – see 1 John 5:7.

For us to understand this, don’t make it personal, let’s concentrate on the Church. There is the Church and it is married to Jesus, not Christ. Jesus came to marry the Church which is physical. Reference verse: “don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit”, therefore your body is the temple, not your Spirit – see 1 Corinthians 6:19. When we see a temple (a place of fellowship) we call it a Church right? This then implies that you are a Church.

So if your body is a church and you are a wife, it must be married to someone, it cannot be married to the Spirit, it needs someone physical. Who is this person? It is the Lord Jesus Christ, He came for this very reason of marrying our bodies. To redeem (purchase) our bodies back to God.

Verse (4) “…any man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head”. Any man who covers Christ dishonors Him because He does not want to be covered. It is not your duty to cover Him, it is the duty of God. There is a woman, whose head is a man, and the head of this man is Christ; the head of Christ is God. Woman must cover the husband but the husband must not cover Christ because He is covered by God. A way in which a woman is to cover her husband, it is to actually not reveal his weaknesses.

This is a mystery; that is why when people read this scripture, they often times thought God was speaking about physical heads. God said, ‘’ …man your head is Christ …’’ males, so when you look at your head, do you see Christ? No, you only see your hair. Thus the quote refer to having authority above you and your duty is not to cover that authority.

And after Moses prayed at the mountain, he took a veil and covered his face. As we understand, a veil does not only cover the face, it covers the whole head. Didn’t the very same bible we read say, ‘’ …man should not cover their heads?’’

When God spoke this, He did not literally mean that man must not cover their heads by wearing caps or hats. And in fact that is how Jewish man used to dress, their outfits consisted of head wraps, therefore if we say it is sin for a man (male) to cover his head, it means Jesus also sinned.

Verse (5), ‘’But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.” Let’s take me and G.F Unknown for example, she is married to me right, so according to the verse, when she prays with her head uncovered she dishonors me (her husband) but if I am the one telling her to shave her head, does she dishonor me even then? Should she deny to cut by saying No, I am covering you (with my hair) and then end dishonoring me her head? The first commandment to the wife was not to cover the Husband but to submit unto him.

Submission comes before covering. As we can observe [1 Corinthians 11] merely talking about married people, and not about those who are single, if you are a woman and you are single, this does not apply to you.  Any woman who does not cover her head when she prays, she might as well shave it, so it means when you pray, you must cover your hair (glory), not head – the problem is your hair. Your hair must be covered because it is the glory of man, so if that glory of man is visible, we cannot see the glory of God, His covering.

[Haggai 2:9], ’’The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former …’’ The glory of man (Moses) was effective and could kill, there is the glory of God and there is glory of man. When Moses was covering his face with a veil, he was hiding what was fading away, the glory of the law. He covered the glory that they may not see it fade away. He covered it because it was a ministry of death.

But we of the grace of the Spirit, we have received Christ with an unveiled face. We do not cover that glory (hair) because it is the glory of Christ. However, the glory of man must be covered and that of Christ must be revealed.

Where does Moses fit in, in this picture? He is part of the church, he is the woman – wife, he is not in the position of man for the purpose of this teaching.  In [Ephesians 5:25] God said it, ‘‘…love your wife as Christ loved the Church …”, therefore Moses veiled his face, he was covering his husband (Jesus). The husband is none other than Jesus because He is man. ‘‘Unto us a child is born’’, so Jesus is the head of Moses and Christ remains Christ – see [Isaiah 9:6].

The reason I am saying that Moses was covering Jesus is due to the verse where Jesus said, “the very same law speaks about me’’, thus I say when Moses hid his face with a veil he was covering Jesus. The glory of man must be hidden but if it is of Christ it must be revealed – the glory of Jesus must be hidden but the glory of Christ must be seen.

If you read through the prayer of Jesus in [John 17:1] you will notice that there is a Son who has been glorified and another one who is yet to be glorified. Christ has been glorified but Jesus is yet to be glorified. And He is glorified when He dies on the cross, then that is the glory of Jesus.

[1 Corinthians 11:5], “… a woman who pray without covering her head…it is the same as if her head were shaved”. When you are bald, you are just like the one who goes to Church without covering their head. The matter that messes with people’s mind here is that there is the law and there is the Spirit. If you want to follow the law, you must follow all of it, not some. If you say it is wrong for a woman to shave her head then cover your hair (males), wear something over your head when you go to Church. The problem with the law is that if you do one thing, you must do all of it; if it is wrong to shave then it’s also wrong to go to Church without covering your head.

Verse (6), “ …for if a woman will not wear a head covering, then she should cut of her hair too but if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her head shorn or shaven, let her cover her head”. The problem is you are revealing your head that has hair, it is the hair that needs to be covered (glory of man)!

Let’s go back to history and I walk you through the deeds of tradition; the Jewish covered their entire head and only left a part on the head wrap to reveal the eyes only. It was believed that hair entice and seduce men, they ought to cover so not tempt men. So are we to suffer in our times and days because of the culture of the Jews? There is nowhere God said that, rather the scripture says, ‘’There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus’’ – see [Galatians 3:28]. We can’t be bound by traditions.

[1 Corinthians 11:6], “But if it’s a shame…” The moment the word ‘‘if’’ is used, it means the statement can go both ways, either way is correct. Paul does not directly say that it is a shame, rather he says ‘‘if’’ so there is a possibility of it being a shame and there is a possibility of it not being a shame. So what makes it to be wrong or right, it is the environment (a residence) you are from. If you are a Jew by culture, then cover your hair, if not then live on with your hair uncovered or bald if you prefer. In Yeshua ministries going bald is not a shame.

Once more the word ‘‘if’’ means that the statement that will follow is not a command. When God commands people He does not use the word “’if’’, for example, “if it is sin to commit sexual immorality, if it’s a sin to lie etc.’’ but He goes direct and say it – see [Levictus 19:11]. So shame is not sin, don’t make it seem sinful. There is no shame in the Spirit; shame is a feeling brought by information. God does not have feelings and neither is He bound by culture, unless God be a Jew, He will feel like saying, ‘’as a woman you must cover you hair’’, wherever you go, not in Church only as He everywhere.

Women must cover their head (husband) when they pray, that is, in private, she can do so with her physical head uncovered. We are cutting our hair (taking away the glory of man) that we may get that of Christ.
