We are continuing with the message of serving. Genesis 2:4-17, God placed Adam there to take care, he was taking care of the kingdom and not the ground of the earth. The Garden was for the man to keep and not the woman hence it was lost in the hands of the man. God gave the mandate to the man. If God had said to Eve to tend and keep, it would have to be the woman who had to keep the garden. The man was the one with the serving spirit.
[Genesis 3:17] When you serve, you must not listen to other people’s voices but God. Do not even listen to your own voice. Cursed is the ground for your sake because you should be serving. Your work should be approved because of excellence. There is nothing to lose when you do not serve but there is everything to lose when you serve.
[Genesis 3:6] Do you see what happens when you do not serve? A person who does not serve thinks that they are still in the right standing with God. It is easy to see that you are not well spiritually when you serve. The woman ate and she was fine, hence she went and gave the husband to eat too. The woman was deceived and became naked yet it seems like she is still okay. When you do not serve your conscience dies without you being aware and the fear of the Lord leaves you. When you are in the Holy of Holies the minute you leave the glory it becomes visible. It is easy to see that you have fallen when you serve than when you do not serve.
Since Adam was the one taking care of the garden the moment he ate both their eyes were opened. The woman wouldn’t have known this if she was alone. This is what happens when you do not serve, you can’t see that you are naked. When you serve you can’t do what the people of the world do. When those who serve fall, they start to cover themselves and want you to think they are still fine. They try to replace the life/glory they once had with leaves. Adam and Eve were born naked and they did not care that they are naked, they were not conscious of their nakedness. There is no way you can go out of the glory and not cover yourself because you are used to being covered. Those who used to serve find something to replace what they once had.
They become committed somewhere and make friends. They teach those they meet what they learned at church. Serving keeps us, and we continue even when we do not feel like it. Our first responsibility is to serve. You need to serve the Lord. You need to ask yourself if the husband is still pleased with you. When you are married and no longer intimate with your wife, she will begin to wonder if you are sleeping with someone else. If you are not serving then someone is serving in your place. There is no way there can be a kingdom with no one to serve in. Someone is serving in your place. The person takes your place and their place.
Everyone needs to do their work so that no one replaces the other. If you do not sing, then someone will sing and usher at the same time. You must look at David who was both a shepherd and king at the same time only because of the disobedience of someone. If that person had continued being faithful David would have continued being a shepherd only. Serve with reverence and trembling because the position you have can be taken away. There is no time to take a break because you might lose that position. We become restored while serving. We do not take a break to get strength from somewhere. We continue serving and receive strength. When you feel tired you do not stop but you continue and push.
Jesus was strengthened while going to the cross. We serve continually. When you do not have a message to preach about, just stand there and open your mouth, and God will do the rest. The Spirit will give you utterances. You do not take a break and say you do not know what to say anymore but the Spirit will give you what to say and strengthen you when you are tired.
[1 Timothy 2: 14]
It was not Adam who was deceived but the woman, when you do not serve it is easy to be deceived. Every person who is deceived thinks they are right. Thinking that you are right and knowing the truth are two different things. People who become deceived think they are right. They have been deceived by their worries, the world, and those they commune with.
When you spend time with Eve you will have the same mind that she has. The mind of the person who serves and of a person who does not serve is not the same. All those who get paid to do what they do in the house of the Lord are employees, they are not servants. When a pastor gets a salary he must know what he is getting paid for to do and what he does as part of serving. Now with Covid-19, many complained because there is no income anymore. We can’t say God has given us the power to generate wealth and you are generating wealth from the ministry. Those who have fallen think they are right yet they are deceived. It is not deception if it doesn’t feel right.
[Genesis 3:1] The devil will not deceive you without making it look like it is all about you. He makes sure you think of all the things you will benefit from. The purpose is bigger than your achievements. The things that we have been added. We don’t drive cars or have houses because we were seeking them, but God blessed us. The way I have given myself to God I saw myself losing everything for God and right in the midst I got blessed. When you have nothing for the gospel and live for God, He will bless you.
Many are deceived by their selfish minds, and it is all about them. The minute your language changes and it is all about you, know that deception has entered. People had time for themselves this year and they fell. People had time to reconcile with their families and they fell – died. You once called them a bad connection but now they are no longer a bad connection. You no longer deserve to be taught because the teaching can’t change you. You had enough time to spend with your family but they are still not born again. Some of you are fighting with them now, you can’t stand them.
As much as the world is undergoing a second wave of Covid-19 the same is happening in the church as well. The devil won’t hit you with one thing, but he uses different things. He doesn’t use one weapon and he will always be after you. He will never chase someone who is in his kingdom. Men who cheat in most cases cheat with married women, same with the devil, he is not looking for a person who is not committed but he is looking for those in the kingdom of God. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, so if you do not fear God it is the beginning of foolishness.
As we are still in lockdown, serve God. Don’t find yourself in the world. Work for God. Let everything be for God. Do not use God’s time to make money. Do not be deceived. I hope you are learning about serving. This is the first mandate that God has given us to serve.
