CUT-OFF WHAT LEADS YOU TO SIN’

[Genesis 3:1-3]
“Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, “You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

The devil will not come to you directly but as an angel of light. He will come to you as the light and if you do not have discernment you will be deceived. The bible says that he roars like a lion but we know who the real lion is. We as Christians, should not take things at face value. We should not take things as we see them. When you look at a phone, do not just see a phone because the devil will come with that same phone with indirect methods.

The devil did not go to the woman directly to lead her to where he wants her to be but he went directly by saying ‘Did God say you should eat from these trees and not this particular tree?’ he sows a seed. The first mistake that Eve made was not just listening to the words of the serpent but was being in his presence. God made Eve perfectly holy like Him but she was not smart enough for the serpent. Eve was glorified and powerful but she was not wise for the serpent.

No one is responsible for your salvation but you. Not your situation or whatever but you are responsible for your own salvation. You have the power to accept anything that comes to you. The devil was clever and Eve with all the glory could not say no to the devil.

Do not entertain the enemy and his tactics. Do not open the door. The devil was able to quote everything that God said to Adam and Eve. If you open the door for the enemy, there will be some truth in what the enemy is saying to you. He will come to you with the same scripture.

[Matthew 5:29-30]
“If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish than for your whole body to be cast into hell.”

If there is anything that leads you to sin, cut it off immediately. You have power over your salvation and life. When people get to a point where they sin, it did not start there but it started where they did not cut what leads them to sin. The minute you just open that door, you will be led to sin. The bible says that if you look at a woman lustfully so, you already sinned. God wants us to protect our salvation.

[Genesis 3:3-6]
“So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate…”

Be careful of the company you keep because whatever you keep can lead you to your desire. Be careful of where you go because a place you are at can lead you to your desire. All this time Eve never cared about the fruit even when God told her not to eat it. There is no scripture that says that Eve used to lust for the tree. We do not know anything about the tree until the serpent comes. She had no desire at all.

Be careful of what you see, do, and where you go because it can cause you to desire. Desire comes in different things. Some are not bad but they are bad if it is not yet the time of the Lord. If it is not yet the right time of God, my desire will lead me to things I am not supposed to see. Eve would have not seen the fruit like that if there was no one there.

Eve tested the Word of God that was said to her. She was disobedient by confirming what the devil was saying. The serpent came with indirect ways to deceive her. In the end, she touched and ate.

You cannot see without opening your eyes. These are the eyes of knowledge. These eyes lead to knowledge and understanding. The source of this knowledge is wrong. It is not God. They have this knowledge and understanding. It is not from God. They know something that they are not supposed to know. What you eat will lead you to knowledge but the knowledge of what is not of God.

What you see in your life shows the kind of knowledge that you attain in your daily life. If the knowledge that you have attained was the same percentage or the same measure of blessing that God uses, will it be enough?

What you do for someone else is for the glory of God. When your character is right, you are adding to the Kingdom of God. Eve received knowledge. We learn every day. When she ate, her eyes opened and led her to receive knowledge.

There is a certain knowledge that will draw you close to God and the other one that drives you away from God. Be careful of what you know because it will determine the presence of God in your life. If in any way, whatever you do will make you feel like you want to hide from the presence of God, cut it off because it is not worth it.

If that company that you keep makes you hide away from your father, cut it off because it is not right. That place is your fig tree. A fig tree is described as a place that you hide from the presence of God. If you find yourself running away from the presence of God, the place that you are running to is your fig tree, cut it off. Your knowledge will bring fear when you hear the voice of God if it is not His knowledge.

God knew but He still asked. When He asks He did not say that did you listen to the serpent but He asked that if they ate the tree that He commanded not to eat. When your eyes open, you receive knowledge and the knowledge that you receive has its own consequences.

[Ephesians 1:17-18]
“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,”

With Adam and Eve, their eyes became enlightened and they received knowledge; the knowledge of the serpent. Paul is praying that they may be blessed but he prays that they may receive the Spirit of knowledge and revelation. This is the best prayer ever. The more you have more wisdom and revelation, you become like Him. Is the knowledge that you attain each and every day right? That depends on you; whether you receive the knowledge from Him or the knowledge of the serpent.

Be cautious of which eyes you are enlightening each and every day of your life. Some of you when the father says separate, it is not that the people are bad but because your eyes will be enlightened when you are with them. The certain knowledge that you did not know will be made known to you. That is the most dangerous thing ever.

There is some certain knowledge that God has protected you from because it will unleash the beast in you. Protect yourself from such things; things that you did not know that existed. Cut what leads you to sin. What leads you to sin is like a bridge. There is no way to sin if you cut what leads you to sin. Be sensitive to what you see. Not only your physical eyes but the company that you keep and the places that you go to.

[Genesis 3:7-11]
“Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked, and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings…”

The devil came to them and gave them the knowledge of himself. When you grow in God, you get to a point where everything is according to the Spirit. The moment you feel like you have to work hard for you to get to that place; manmade tactics, just know that you have lost something. Adam and Eve were covered but now they had to make leaves to cover themselves.

They did things to make themselves get to a place in God. The minute you have to do something to get to a place, it means you have lost what God gave you. Hence, you have to use your own wisdom to get back to that place. Do it but know that it is not forever. You push on until you get to a place where it is no longer your own strength. You cannot use your strength forever, that is not perfection. God will restore you as if nothing happened.

There is something that you need to change. That is what you need to cut. You need to get to a place where God has called you to be at. If getting there is difficult, then it means that there is something you need to change. This message is for each and every one of us. Change the way you pray or die the way you are. Break the cycle by cutting. Spring clean your soul, mind, and desires. Spring clean everything. This is the journey that we are in.

It is personal. We will get potholes and fall. Stand up, shake off the dust and move on. If you fall every day, we will assume that you are crippled because you are falling every day. We will give you crutches. They are there to help you walk. They are not forever. When you get to that place, hold on and do not let go. When God calls you, throw away those crutches and go to Him. Get to that place that God has called you to be at. Get to that place and remain there.

God is not unjust when He says that be holy as He is holy. When I say holy, I am not speaking about sin. God does not see sin the way we do. When He says that be holy, it means that meditate in His Word day and night. You are able to meditate on His Word day and night. It starts with cutting.

People do not want to cut because it is not nice. Cutting is not nice. Pruning a tree is not nice but God does it anyway because it is for the benefit of the tree. When God says do not do this, at the end of the day it is for you and not for God. God is protecting you. Be careful of the knowledge you have because it creates desire.

Do not open a door for desire. Rather be called names than being exposed to what you are not supposed to.

[James 4:7-8]
“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

Resist the enemy and he will flee away. You resist the enemy by cutting those things and he will flee away. These are instructions that God has given to us. It starts with you resisting the enemy, you resist the enemy by cleansing your heart. Resist the enemy and he will flee away from you. Do not feed your desire.

Eve saw the tree and she did not desire but after she ate it, her eyes of knowledge were opened. Remain in the state that God has placed you in. Remain there and hold on. Remain in there at all times.
