Women Entrusted to Remind, not to Teach
August 3, 2019
[2 Kings 4], have you ever been in a situation where it feels like the same thing is happening to you over and over again? Where you feel like you are in poverty and it seems like it is just getting worse. Where it prevented you from going to school and now it is preventing you to succeed in other aspects. Busy taking away from you and eating you away. The poverty had already taken the husband but now it is going through to her seed. It was not only after her marriage but even her legacy and the seed of her womb.
The situation she was in was eating away everything from her. Have you ever been attacked in such a way that you feel like the devil is undermining you and that he is not afraid to touch you regardless of how much you are prayerful? Do you not think the husband prayed to the Lord asking him to change the situation?
She is a wife of a prophet and what she is going through is not afraid of a position. You are an apostle, a prophet, however it is not afraid to touch you, it is not even scared to touch what belongs to you and that prevents you from being productive. Verse (1), “Your servant is dead…” Meaning death is in the house and the creditors are coming, she has already lost her servant and is about to lose her husband. It was clear to everybody that the husband feared the Lord.
Verse (2), “So Elisha said to her. What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” Look at yourself right now, and ask yourself, what is it that you carry? Elisha never said to the woman go and fast, pray but he asked what the woman has in her house.
I believe that when God created us and poured His spirit on us this was the spirit to produce, that we may speak and things happen. The woman was not given an instruction to look for what is outside of her; what God is looking for is already deposited into you, that thing that you have is what God wants from you. What is it you have in you? The word cannot return to God void, unless you say God is a liar.
God cannot afford to lose Himself to sin because there is a part of God in you. Everything that you are going through is a lie, it is a lie that you are meant to suffer. The moment you become born-again God tells you the truth that you are not a sinner, and you are not a failure. When God looks at you He expects His reflection, let what He sees be what He knows you to be.
Verse (2), “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.” That is the mistake that we do, this woman says she does not have anything, meaning she despises what she has. Many despise what they have and carry because they think they need to have money, be excellent in academics or be married but that thing that you have is exactly what God is looking for. This woman was anointed because she had “a jar of oil”, she was carrying power and the spirit of God in her, but because she did not know she could not produce, she was just sitting on it and doing nothing with it, she was carrying power in her house.
Many despise the verse that says “Love your God with all you heart and love your neighbor.” Your neighbor is very important. When we say we die to self, do you die for God to use you or for the next person or do you just die? The power that you carry is not for you but it is for you to go out and fetch other empty vessels (not born-again people) so that you can fill them with what you have, once you have given them, then you can rest.
Verse (3), “…do not gather just a few.” Bring all the lost sheep, all the empty vessels because what you have in you is able to produce and fill. Why does the woman have to shut the door? When you go out and gather empty vessels you must guard yourself against offence, as you minister to those people you must not be offended as a result you need to shut the door.
[Matthew 9:37], “The harvest is plenty but the laborers are few.” Think of that one person you have ever shared the Word with and they become born-again. I am not talking about the pulpit. How was it the first time you won a soul into the kingdom? Powerful right. So we are here to serve souls, our neighbors out there, we are here to pour oil – to let the river flow that they can be full and once they are full you can set them aside.
The moment there were no vessels the oil ceased. It is dangerous for you to be surrounded by full vessels (brothers and sisters). And it is dangerous to live and not have a vessel you can pour out oil in. So this power was able to cast out the spirit of death in her life, it was able to save her and her children. This power is not outside of you, you must look deeper because within is in you.
For me it would be a shame to serve so hard and love God so hard and not be able to save souls. Never get too relaxed, being comfortable with only just to serving and not introducing to Christ.
If there is something in my life that touches my heart it is when someone becomes born-again. The Shunamite woman always saw the prophet of God passing by without the man of God saying that he has a need of hospitality. She therefore invited him over to come and eat by her house. Not only did she want to provide food for the man of God but she also wanted to make an upper room for him. (11), “One day he came there and turned in to the upper room and lay down to rest.” The man of God came and lay in the room. Remember what happened to the dead soldiers when their bodies came in contact with the body of the prophet.
Is it not surprising that the woman did not go straight up to tell the prophet that she does not have a son and that pled to be blessed with one? But instead it was Gehazi who noticed that there is a need in her house. (16), “he said about this time this year you shall embrace a son.” How could he say that? Have you ever prayed about something so long that you do not even want God to take you back to it again for had buried it as a result of not getting and answer?
Verse (21), “She laid him on the bed of the man of God…” Did the child resurrect? No! Have you ever received a Word from God where He told you to do something by faith and He will back you up and then when that thing does not come pass then you still go back to God and ask God saying ‘You promised me this yet nothing happened?’
The child was the miracle of the woman however it seems as if the miracle is taking her back to that gloomy place where she thought she conquered and passed. What the woman was doing was not understandable even to her own husband, when the woman wanted to run back to God he asked her where she was going. These are things people around you will not understand, they would not understand as to why you are doing what you are doing because they do not understand how far the miracle you received came from.
But the man of God said “Let her alone…” Some situations do not want you to go around telling everybody about them. It has been such a long process that you do not want to explain to Gehazi because you know where the child comes from and because you know, your response is ‘it is well’.
Verse (27), “When she came to the mountain to the man of God, she took hold of his feet. Gehazi approached to push her away; but the man of God said, “Let her alone, for her soul is desperate and troubled within her; and the Lord has hidden the reason from me and has not told me.” Poor servant Gehazi does not understand, that is why he will push you away. Whenever you feel like you are reaching a peak in your spiritual or prayer life something always moves you away, when you feel like that addiction is now gone, someone will come and try and move you from that frame of mind.
Verse (27), “The Lord has hidden it from me…” There is no prophet who will come and tell you what is happening in your life, God has hidden it. If that place is fasting, God has hidden it away from that. (28) “She said, did I ask a son of my Lord?” It means that the way she had already accepted the current situation, even when the son was there to her the son was not existing. Even when she bore him and took care of him unto her it still felt like a lie, so even when the blessing was here she did not believe it.
So this woman was saying to the prophet ‘You started this’. There is an instruction from the prophet to the servant to head to the house and put the staff on the baby. Do not you think the servant expected that the moment he lays the staff on the child the child would rise? Another disappointment – Lord I did what you asked, I prayed, I fasted but the child is still not awake.
Verse (32), “When Elisha came into the house there was the child laying dead on his bed…he went in the room and shut the door behind him…and the flesh of the child became warm.” Remember they have already put the staff on the child and he did not move. So Elisha had to go back to what he carried because all the things he had tried never worked, thus he went and laid on the child, meaning he released what he was carrying onto the child and the child became warm.
Verse (37), “then she picked up her son and went out.” Elisha had to give what He carried so that the child can live again, he had to stretch himself on the child not once but twice. Meaning as I tell you now, you will go and stretch yourself on whatever you are going through but if it does not happen for you the first time or the second time, continue stretching yourself. I believe that when the staff was on the face of the child, something happened but it was not visible.
You think that all the things that you do are not making a difference but you can never go wrong when you stretch yourself. God is able. A Christian loses their belief after being been born-again for a while. But if your neighbor says “You will get 100% on your exam” will you believe? When Paul says, “I have ran a good race…” He means that he has fought a battle to keep his faith. Sometimes when things do not happen as you wanted them your faith is knocked down, you get disappointed and think that this does not work but that is not the case, you must keep on stretching yourself.
What you have in you is not only for you but also for your neighbor. Are you aware that the husband was not mentioned anywhere throughout the scriptures? Meaning that this was a personal thing, it did not need the husband or the servant, it was a personal assignment. There are other struggles that you have that it is only you that has to conquer them, not anybody else but you because it is your personal journey.
Even if the person you consider powerful does not get what is happening to you it is still fine because it is for you and no one else. You carry God in you, so stretch yourself forth. When was the last time you believed God for something ridiculously crazy? When was the last time you stood in the middle of a busy highway and said no car will come and kill me? When was the last time you went to a restaurant and ordered food and ate knowing very well you do not have money to pay? We have all these verses and revelations to cover our unbelief. So in all that you heard from me tonight, I want you to believe God for something.
That one thing you once believed God for and gave up on, I want you to dig it out and put it before you. Proclaim it and speak it to everyone that it will come to pass. I do not want you to declare it here; go to your work place, school, to unbelievers – your unbelieving family. I am taking you back. I am saying go back to that place and believe God again. Fear no more and if it does not happen, take it back to God and tell Him you are not happy with the standard where you are. Do not perceive the oil in you as a deception, and despise it as if you do not have it.
YESHUA; A CITY ON A HILL, THE LIGHT THAT CANNOT BE HIDDEN!
