’SEX BEFORE MARRIAGE’
June 12, 2020[John 9:1-3]
Jesus is the first one who saw the blind man as He was walking with the disciples. The man was born blind and I want to shift your focus here: the first thing that came into the disciples’ mind was “who sinned?” Remember it was Jesus who saw the man first, but the disciples asked Jesus “who sinned, the parents or the boy?”- this was their first question when they saw the man. Jesus answered the disciples that no one sinned, but it happened that the glory of God may be revealed. I want us to see something here: the first thing that came to their [disciples] mind is sin, but Jesus did not see sin in the parents or sin in the blind man. We know that everyone is a sinner and we cannot exclude the parents or the blind man, yet Jesus did not focus on the sin but on the glory.
[Romans 8:5]
“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.”
If you are living in the flesh you cannot think of or harbour anything except the desires of the flesh. What comes out of your mind and your thoughts is the flesh. You cannot be of the flesh and think of the things of the Spirit. It is not a matter of the mind being fleshy, but what governs your mind. Your mind is not fleshy or spiritual but it is governed. What governs you? Because what governs your mind shapes your life in this world. You become what your mind is governed by. If you are governed by the flesh you become of the flesh, but if your mind is governed by the Spirit you become of the Spirit. What governed the mind of Jesus and the disciples? What they saw was sin but what does Jesus see? He saw the glory not the sin, whether it was there or not, He decided to see the glory. This is dangerous, what governs you and what you allow your mind to be governed by is important. It is not the matter of you living on earth but it is the matter of life and death.
What governs you can either bring you life or death. Since lockdown, we have been on social media to watch church services; I have encountered Christians being confused. Especially the issue of offering while people are not working. I saw many Christians commenting and agreeing with things – it exposes them, what governs them? When the world says such things I can understand, but when Christians agree it confuses me because it is not the pastor seeking the offering. When you offer because the pastor says so, it is a problem but when you offer because God said so, then it is something else. What do you see when I tell you to come and offer? Do you see the pastor or God? We must be very careful. Be aware of what is governing you, if you are governed by the flesh you will surely die.
[Romans 12:2]
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Do not conform to the pattern of the world. There is no way that when you are fleshy you will live by the Will of God because it is through the Spirit that we come to know the Will of God. The flesh cannot interpret the Will but it looks for logic and the patterns of things. Christians get confused easily, they go with everything they hear and it exposes us. The moment you begin to put Race before God, it shows what governs you. The flesh seeks the logic of things. We are in the Healing Service, whatever bothers you in the flesh let it not be the product of what you are thinking or in your mind. Hence, Apostle Paul told the Romans to renew their minds. A healthy mind is aligned with God.
God thinks, He has thoughts; maybe you did not know. In the book of Jeremiah God tells us of His thoughts. The mind of the Spirit must be aligned to our minds so that we can be one with God. What God thinks must be what we think – this is what we call being one with God. Let us be governed by the mind of God – the Spirit. We normally say be in the Spirit, so how do we become in the Spirit? This happens when our minds and the mind of God is one. Through the flesh, there is no Will, but you do things according to what is in fashion in the world and what your flesh desires. If you want to know the Will of God in your life, be governed by the Spirit. It is very dangerous of what governs you, because whatever governs you either brings life or death.
[Philippians 1:20]
“According to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.”
Remember as Christians we need to see Christ in everything we do. There is a reason why Jesus Christ came and was born, and for 33 years He lived and went to the cross. Jesus could have come and went to the cross straight but He came and after 33 years He went to the cross. We cannot reap the fruits of the cross if we do not reap the fruits of the 33 years. The 33 years were preparing our minds for what will happen at the cross. Jesus Christ dealt with the teachings and sin in our mind. He was uprooting what we know, to prepare us for the cross. Hence, you will never read where Jesus Christ was negative. What governed His mind? He did the works of the Father. He did not come to speak of His own but spoke of the Father. Jesus Christ was never negative, even when they asked of places to sleep. He never worried about money in the bank account but told them to go and they will see.
Paul said to live is for Christ and to die is for gain. So who gains? Christ does not gain from our death. Continuing living is for Christ, He is our sole reason. We do not live for our children, parents, or spouses but it is for Christ. When we die it is not for anyone including Christ. Be careful what governs your mind. Do not let the world contaminate you. In these times, it is not the time where you should be doubting the Will or diverting from the Will of God. It is not the time where you find yourself out of the Will because people are losing their lives.
[2 Corinthians 10:5]
“Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,”
We take every thought that esteems itself above the knowledge of God. Paul was aware that there are two governances that can govern a person. If it is the flesh, it will seek to be above the knowledge and mind of God. Hence, he said we destroy and subject it because a thought which is not of God it is of the world which is the desires of the flesh.
[Philippians 4:8]
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
Receive what is good from God! “Whatever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, meditate on these things” – Such things are Spirit things. Meditate on things that are from above. When daddy spoke of the wrongdoings of the shepherd, it shows what governs them. The mind is a dangerous thing. It can speak what is of the Spirit but it is not of the Spirit. It can pretend that it is in the Spirit but it is not. The flesh can understand the things of the Spirit but cannot do the things of the Spirit. The flesh understands that I can lay a hand on you and you become healed but doing it, it cannot happen because it is not backed-up by the Spirit of God.
It comes with things that look like things are happening but it is not happening. The flesh can prophesy or teach but it is not backed up by the power of the Spirit. We need to be careful what governs our mind, we might think that as we pray for people and prophesying, we might think that we are in the Spirit but we are driven by the flesh. What occupies your mind? My father once spoke about the Spirit of Excellency – where everything that you do is excellent before the eyes of God.
Some teach what looks to be true and make sense as you view them with the eyes of the flesh; but is it God speaking? Are we walking where Jesus walked? Are we speaking the words that God has spoken; or are we creating the words, the way, and the truth ourselves? Whatever is the truth and noble, think of such. The Israelites walked with God for many years but still never understood that they can do anything with God. They were governed by the flesh, they always complained and thought of Egypt. Whenever they had a situation, they compared it with Egypt. Yet, they walked with God with a cloud by day and fire by night. They even drank from the spiritual stone but still, they complained.
Paul saw that there was a gap in Romans 8, he spoke to people who condemned themselves. he addressed people who were governed by the flesh, he told them that Jesus died and took their sins. Move away from the mind of the flesh. Sometimes we say we are carnal, but not everything that comes to your mind is carnal. God speaks in our minds and we understand Him in our minds, then we become. So not everything that you think is carnal. God can come and speak, you hear a voice but sometimes you just think which is a thought that God has planted in you. You might ask yourself how come God speaks to you; God does put His thought in your mind but only when you are governed by the Spirit. Apostle Paul said that our weapons are not of the flesh but of the Spirit which is the Holy Spirit.
Some of you are sick and may think that you are sick because you ate something but sometimes we are sick because of what is in our mind. The only healing is when we renew our minds. How do you do that? “Such things put your mind on” – you might be struggling emotionally, physically but is it the matter of lacking or what is in your mind is not aligned to God; and that what governs your mind is the flesh? It is not a tokoloshe or muti but you need to align yourself to the Will of God.
We need the protection of the Word because without it we are exposed. We need the governance of the Word. The Word will tell you where you need to be and at what time, you will never be at the wrong. The Word interprets the Will. There is nowhere you can go to seek the Will of God expect in His Word. So why are we not governed by the Word? Why so much confusion? Is the Word governing you silently? People would say that they do not know the purpose of God in their lives; it is because of what governs them. What are you putting your mind on, what are you listening to? God is taking you back to the Will. God is calling you back again, He is claiming you again. God is reaching out today for you again. God is renewing your mind again today. With the renewal of the mind, you become a new creature and all the DNA and generational curses and sickness are in the past. God is calling you again today, He is claiming you again. Be aligned and obedient.
Today is that chance to reach out to God. We are going to address the disease and struggles in your body but if you do not decide today and change your mindset that you will set on things above, we will pray for you frequently. You need to change that attitude. Do not become like the disciples who do not see the glory but sin because they are governed by the flesh. In all situations see Christ, there is no need to complain and worry if you are with Christ. He has won the battles. Let us address that mind and attitude. Align your mind to the Word!
